Is there anyone who's installed the Kuryakyn Universal Trailer Wiring & Relay Harness #7671 in particular on their Gen II? I'm not sure which colored wires on the bike end are the LT, RT, Run Light, and Brake wires.

Not done it, but:

Left is Brown;

Right is Green;

Running is Blue;

Brake is Yellow.

Just in case this helps: highly recommend posi-lock connectors. They came with my Clearwater Kristas and are a cinch to use. Found here CLICKY or perhaps contact Clearwater lights @ 916-852-7029 and I'll bet they'll give you a great price on exactly what you need... since you only need 4 of them. They're familiar with your FJR and can probably tell you exactly what size you need as well.

Instead of splicing you can go thru AdMore Lighting and get a harness that plugs into the rear harness.

That would be the ideal choice but given the time constraints I need to pick something up today to wire up. Planning ahead isn't my strong suit these days....

I'm going with the Kuryakyn since there's seven in stock at Dennis Kirk up the road about an hour north of The Cities. I hope the instructions have lot's of pictures.....

I opened the loom under the seat just back of the tool tray. Was able to ID the different wires and used the enclosed crimp on connectors. Wrapped it all in electrical tape and tucked it back away. Under the seat and wrapped should be good for years.

I did the same thing but with posi-taps

Cool Beans. That answers my next questions. Positaps +1, loom just aft of the tool pouch tray +1.

Before I bring out the nibbler and hole saw to butcher my beloved Feejer, how much plastic did ya'll need to remove for access to snaking the wiring from the module to the battery and also the other way out the rear wheel well?

If ya'll have pictures of how you routed the wiring that would be really helpful in getting me to stop the head scratching portion of this mod.

ok, spoke too soon. The trailer wires now come down along side the right hand downtube via a hole I made with a step drill. Easy peasy. Hmmm. The battery end of the loom bears a little more forethought -- anyone with suggestions on that bit of routing?

I've routed wires two ways, the easy way and the proper way.

Easy way: Run the wires from the battery to te rear of the battery compartment, wheedle the wires down to come out and go just over the frame under the tank. Run them over the foil blanket, you can then find a way through to the under-seat area. A risk of trapping the wire under the front of the tank during servicing.

A (not very expicit) pic taken (during a TBS) shows the run under the tank (blanket not in place).

That's the easy way.

The proper way is to follow the original loom, but this requires taking off the right side fairing. Did this on my CCS-100 installation, took longer, but, to my mind, a better final result.

From under the saddle, down the right side, then thread through to beside the radiator and up to the fuse/coil area by the battery.

It can all be neatly tied to the original loom, and use any of the original clips.

Would have loved to do it the proper way but I ended up taking the easy route. I placed the Kuryakin relay module thingamajig forward of the tool pouch tray to the right of center line of the bike. Fit's snugly under the plastic seat bracket. I tapped into the tail light harness aft of the front seat lock down bracket. Thanks for the tips.

I think I'll start a topic on whether to install a swiveling trailer tongue.
