well, just layed the fjr down today..... :dribble: am wondering what to do about the insurance. i have dairyland full coverage. from what i can calculate right now, the damage is somewhere between $4000 and $4500 just for the parts. just wanted to get opinions about what is a good threshold to make a claim. any input on how much rates are affected by such a claim would be great. also, does anyone know if there is an industry standard to determine at what point the bike is totalled? i have heard if the damage exceeds around 65 or 70 percent of the book value, then they total it. true? the bike is an '05 non abs with about 8800 miles.thanks for any input.

The real question is, even if your rates go up, how many years will it take for it to equal the cost to repair the bike if you pay for it yourself? In that time, no tickets, no claims, and the rates should go back down again.

Every state is different as to how claims are databased, thus could effect your rates..........Also, every insuance co differs in what numbers they use to declare a vehical a total loss....your claim adjustor will gladly answer this question for you...

But, who cares.....you don't have a claim that's only a couple of hundred dollars over your deducitlbe.......We'll talking $5,-$6,000 here.......MAKE A CLAIM!!!! If they want to total out the bike, WHO CARES? Take your $8,000 and buy and 06AE.
