UNIDEN EXPANDS LINE-UP OF PORTABLE GPS NAVIGATION PRODUCTS

Uniden’s MapTraxTM Product Line Will Offer the Industry’s Only GPS with Radar Detection

Fort Worth, Texas, October 24, 2007 – Uniden America Corporation, a leading manufacturer of wireless consumer electronics, today announced an aggressive expansion of six new products in the Global Positioning System (GPS) category. The company will debut a new line of 3.5” and 4.3” portable GPS navigation units including units with unique radar capability. “With more than 40 years of experience in the consumer electronics industry and a solid understanding of consumers’ needs, Uniden’s expanding line up in the personal navigation arena is a natural next step for our growing company and its brand” said Brendan Morris, president of Uniden America.

Uniden’s new GPS series will be characterized by compact designs, large displays and cutting-edge technology. Beyond the unique radar detection capability these units also offer more innovative features like Bluetooth capability, text-to-speech navigation and pin point positioning accuracy down to three meters. Powered by NAVTEQTM navigation data, all the Uniden models feature TFT digital color LCD screens that automatically adjust between night and daylight viewable settings in accordance with the time of day. The daylight viewable setting minimizes glare while the night-view setting offers a bright, easy-to-read display. In addition to excellent picture quality, Uniden’s portable GPS systems are all equipped with intuitive user-interfaces with EZ touch screens, pre-loaded maps of the US and Canada, two gigabytes of map memory, a windshield mount for easy use in the car, voice prompts and the fastest available processors for real-time accuracy.

With access to up to 6 million points-of-interest in its new models, Uniden paces the industry in offering navigational information for a wide-range of locations, resulting in a more comprehensive product offering for consumers.

In addition, four of the models in Uniden’s portable GPS navigation line-up will offer Bluetooth compatibility. This allows the GPS system to synchronize with most Bluetooth-enabled cell phone to permit hands free operation, providing a safe, central location for all in-vehicle communications. Uniden’s expertise in Bluetooth technology, proven by the successful introduction of Bluetooth-enabled cordless phones, is illustrated in the intuitive engineering and exceptional functionality of this model.

In addition to the 2007 products, Uniden plans to introduce more new models to the GPS MapTrax series in 2008.
