A lot was said at the WFO banquets about the integrity and class of the WFO attendees and FJR riders as a whole. Well, I can vouch for that!

Like a dumb ***, I set my wallet down at the breakfast table on Saturday morning, got up and walked off. Immediately, Mrs Ric-in-Sac, who was seated nearby, came running over with it, yelling my name. Much thanks, Karen.

Then, that evening back in the room around 10:30, I couldn't find my wallet. Looked in ALL my stuff, didn't have it. Starting to panic, 2500 miles from home and no money, credit cards, license, gun permit...anything. Had a full tank of gas.....I hightailed it over to the front counter and asked if anyone had turned in a wallet. She asked my name and headed for the back office. Holy crap! Someone must have turned it in. She came out with it, said someone found it in the bar. Cripes, I was only in there a minute to see if Geezer was there. Don't even recall taking it out of my pocket. Couldn't blame it on the beer that night.

I just knew all the money would be there, not that there was that much. I'm guessing that since there were so many FJR people there that probably one of us found it and I knew would all be there. It was.

DUMB ***!!!!! Losing it once, well it happens. Losing it twice in one day???????? DUMB ***!!!!!

All I can say is "Thanks so much"...I can only imagine the hassle of losing it. You guys and gals are the GREATEST!! :yahoo: :yahoo: :yahoo: :yahoo: :yahoo:

Charlie (Yeah, I know, I owe you a few beers next year at NAFO...line begins here)

Someone needs to take a page from the Harley guys. Chain that thing to your belt before you lose it for good!

Similar experience at WFO5!

Just pulled up, hot, dehyradted, and a little 'woozy' around the edges..

..somewhere, my brand new set of ER6i's got lost by me.

....went to lost and found, identified them (red permanent ink on the 'right' ear).

......meaning that some good folk(s) found them, returned them, and to this day I don't know who.. but THANK YOU!

Let's not forget the guy who walked out to his bike to pack for the ride home and found someone else's bike cover on his seat. I don't remember who he was but he posted here to locate the owner. All good people......

And Roger Wheelock, who found my misplaced camera on the saddle of my bike, and promptly stuck it into my open fairing pocket for safekeeping. This was after he gave me a 512mb flash card, to replace the stock one I thought would be big enough, and turned out to be 16k. I had left the 2gb at home in the flurry run-up to departure.

To reciprocate, I gave him a left side OEM mirror, as he badly needed one to repair the damage from his unfortunate incident en route to Park City. It's all good!

While the integrity of the other riders seems above reproach, my main concern is if you are considering getting one of the medAlert bracelets. If so, please have it engraved with your name, your address, and a family contact. That way, when someone finds you walking around confused, they’ll be able to help you find your way back home.

Says the guy who actually DID buy me a beer at WFO. They make 'em twice as big to make up for the lack of octane. You're aces, Carv!

I was the guy walking around with a pint in each hand because the bartender ran out of the big glasses. I didn't realize the beers were low octane. Some states have very strange drinking laws. Whatever that brown beer was it sure tasted good.

Charlie, this is what I do so I don't forget or lose my wallet. It's about making a good wallet habit. Just like a good stop sign habit (stop, look both ways, proceed), or any other good riding habit.

When I take out my wallet (of the same pocket it's always in, never another) I HOLD IT IN MY HAND until my credit card comes back. Don't set it down on the table, bar, counter, whatever. Don't put it back into it's one and only pocket. HOLD IT IN YOUR HAND. Then, when your credit card comes back, stow the card, stow the wallet.

Same with keys. Gotta make a good key habit, too. Same place, same routine, no variation allowed.

Don't mean to preach. This is just what I do to keep up with my ****.

All good suggestions, actually good common sense. I think with all the activity and all the fun going on it was just lack of attention. Easy to get distracted. Seems like at WFO, I was always in a hurry to be somewhere, or meet up with someone.Live and hopefully learn. Thanks

I'm surprised MM2 hasn't popped in here with his "You meet the nicest people on an FJR, your really do!" line... :)

So that's where my spitter went. :bigeyedsmiley: :bad:
Eeeewwww! I know a guy who used to test mainframes before they were shipped. He chewed and kept a foam coffee cup to spit in. Well, you probably guessed it, another guy working on the same machine reached up absentmindedly and, thinking that was his coffee, took a sip. Those two guys never got along after that.

you guys realize that the finders fee is what the tab was for the night, right?

Geezer,

That was me who found the bike cover. And nobody has claimed it yet to date. Just sitting in the garage collecting dust. But that's what they're supposed to do anyway's, isn't it? And yes, you do meet the nicest people on an FJR! Class act bunch of folks! :D

Umm, it is a good idea to get a replacement license. Tell them you lost it WA I think about $7 to get it replaced. Keep one with your insurance papers and reg. Don't keep all your credit cards in one place. Figuring how to handle CWP is up to you. TJ
