...Tom, if the center stand has not been off before, we'll have fun getting the two bolts out just inside the exhaust pipes. I had cut mine off and put new ones in the opposite direction so removal next time is easy....... I don't have any spare bolts......
What size is needed? Metric bolts are easy.
I believe the centerstand bolts are special bolts that have a smooth section for the centerstand to pivot on. Yamaha part number for the bolt is 90109-101E6-00. You need two. Item #90 in the diagram.

The locking nuts are your standard nylon locking nut and can be picked up at any decent hardware store cheaper than ordering through the dealer.

Last time I checked I don't think I need the bearing collars, but I destroyed the wax or plastic bearing retainer, and manually packed in grease. All the pivot points are sticking since fording the water at the SEO Ramble.
POS Gen I. You should just take it to the junkyard and be done with it.

No, the large pivot shoulder bolts are good to go... It's item 86, the upper bolts you can't remove with the exhaust on...... I know because I ordered a set of the item 90's and still have them........

Yep, Ray is correct. But if I remember correctly you need to get those #86 bolts removed because the brackets are in the way of pulling the bolt that the swingarm pivots on.

I get 40 mm for the entire bolt #90 from head to end of shank. Should I just order oem bolts and nuts and figure we will cut the existing ones? It looks like the left side isn't a problem, but he right interferes with the exhaust.

See Ray's post above. I'm afraid I gave you a bit of a bum steer. According to Ray it is not bolt #90 that is the issue but bolt #86.

For an update, I won't be doing a TBS. My bike is running pretty smooth right now.

Maybe I can plan on doing it next year with a valve check, coolant flush, and PAIR removal.

Also with only 7000 miles I might not worry about lubing the splines yet.

So a fork flush, install new springs, and check head stem nut torque should do it.

I just got a call from Two Cycle Guys and my backordered Canyon Cages will be here in time, so I'll definitely have those to put on. Also I confirmed I've got 22, 27, and 36mm sockets so I'll toss those in.

Great! I also have the 22 and 27mm sockets, as I just did a tire change, but the more the merrier!

OK, so we're getting close here (a week from this Saturday!). I have been requested to get an accurate head count, including those who need overnight accommodations. I know for sure that Ray, Bill and Ian (Cindy too!) are overnighting. That's four out of eight spots (five beds, three couches). I know some have said they would tent in the back yard. I also know some have other arrangements or are only coming in for the day. Andy already told me he will being staying with family in West Seneca.

Here's what I need. Please PM me if you're planning on being here, and include whether or not you will be staying overnight (either indoors or out: I have a one-man tent to offer as well), and if staying, which night(s). If I end up with more folks than I have beds/sofas for, we'll figure something out.

Thanks!!

Mike

Mike , I'm pretty sure that a family event has jumped in front of your tech day. But ,hey, you're close enough I could still pop in. It'll be last minute.

Rob

To date, here's the list.... let us know if different.........

Geezer - fork bushings and seals

Wnfjr - fork oil flush, lube drive splines

pista - steering head, fork flush & springs,

EmmtBt - Canyon cages, fuse panel & wiring, I'd like to check sag readings on the GenIII A for education purposes.

FJRPittsburgh - valve check? (need o-rings, coolant), drive splines

TominCA - Suspension pivot service/bearings

Rayzerman - V-Strom shock install.

I checked my stash and will bring a few selected spare parts (incl. bushings if Geezer's didn't come in), coolant, moly paste, tools for above jobs and bookcase.

Hey Mike thanks for putting this on and hope we did not take up to much of your conference call today. I'll be there for Suspension pivot service/bearings and tires if they arrive still on back order.

Hey Mike. Good to see you today and thanks for breaking away from work to see Tim (madmudder) and me. I'll be there for sure for the day. No overnight so no worries for accommodation. Just going to do a horn replacement. See you on Saturday!

Ray, I have not done anything towards getting bearings or bolts for the center-stand. I'm kind of up in the air on the tech meet, but if I come I'll be a bystander / beer holder. Plenty of time for the bearings during the non-riding time of the year that seems to happen here.
