Wow, read a couple write-ups on the Utah 1088 riders stories and throughly enjoyed the stories. I read Warchilds - "Into The Desert Night", 2002 and Matt Wakins -"Rally Cherry Is Popped", 2005. This is a totally new and interesting sport for me and the idea of riding 1200 to 1700 miles is totally awesome thing to do in 24 hours. Not to mention dealing with the elements of weather, darkness, critters, mechanical issues, and fatigue while trying to estimate times of arrivials at check points and finish lines all the while trying to collect bonii points. Hopefully, my body someday could endure this type of riding as it is very appealing. Maybe the new FJR will allow me to do something similar. I am inspired by not only the riding but the writting. Keep up the good work. Painman. <>< :D

You are so welcome! Once in a while I get on a writing jag and try to beat a few words into a theme on a subject that inspires me. For camaraderie and competitiveness the Utah 1088 was kick-ass. Already signed up again for that event this year and hoping to take it up a notch.

If you liked that piece--you might like my piece on a 1500+ mile personal ride Feelin' a Little Logey I was plumb tuckered out after that ride.

Hope you think about crossing the thin line. It's a slippery slope after you try the 1,000 miles in 24 hours.

Matt great piece on the Utah 1088. I am planning to do my first rally in June and it was good to read your report.

Thanks
