I just finished the Ride for the Heart Foundation / IBA 1,500 mile southern route from Apache Junction, AZ. My goal was to finish in 24 hours rather than the 36 hrs it was schedule for, but it took me 26 hours 45 minutes for 1,584 miles. The Audiovox cruise control failed and my wrist was really sore even though I released the center throttle spring one turn months ago. Several unscheduled stops to relive wrist pain seem to be the problem. Now to trouble shoot the CC. Whenever I set it above 70 mph the results were always the same as it set at 70. Any suggestions?

Vacuum leak? Binding servo cable?

I released two of the three springs completely on my AE. There's not much return on the throttle, just enough. Still a bitch to hold the throttle open for any length of time.

Sorry to hear about your difficulty. Still sounds like a pretty impressive ride! And for a good cause!

One: Congrats on your ride! It was still an accomplishment. Was it your first IBA ride?

Two: Always have a low-tech back-up. In my case, there will ALWAYS be a Vista-Cruise on my bike whether it has true cruise control or not.

Because you can't just set the cruise between gears to turn on the music! And the wrist relief thing. Nice to rest it while still making headway.

I completed a 1,000 mile ride a couple of years ago. This was my first attempt at the 1,500 in 24 hrs and I learned how to make it in under 24 hrs next year...radar detector and a GPS. I learned a lesson with a low tech back up and plan on having one for my road trip to North Carolina in July.
