Went by one of my local dealers today to get my inspection done and they had two used FJR's on the lot. One of the sales men approached and I asked him for the details on that pair of 08's. He said its an 09 and an 08. I said I beg to differ the color scheme is that of an 08 (silver under the black tank). One did have black rims. I ask them to check the VIN's. They never did so the jury is still out. They wan't too much money for them anyway. Here is a link - tell me what you think.

ps. On this listing they have the mileages reversed as well.

'08 looks to have the proper (factory) color scheme.

It's hard to see in the pics but the '09 OTOH, looks to have some custom items. IIRC, all '09's from the mother ship have raised logos on the front fairings (mine does). Perhaps the PO didn't like the raised logos and changed them out...easily done. The tank surround is only a few bucks to change too.

Easy to check the year of each. Look for the build date on the VIN tag and you'll have your answer. Both bikes appear to be what they say, definitely too much money though.

Look at the 10th digit in the VIN. If it differs between VINs, the bikes are different years. Don't have my book handy, but I bet an 8 or 9 in that digit spot will tell you 2008 or 2009.

I'd take anything a dealer tells you with a grain of salt.

I recently located a used 2010 via a Cycle Trader listing. I asked the dealer (via phone... it's amazing how you ask for "sales" and the person answering the phone just happens to be able to help you) if the bike was still under warranty. He said no. I asked if he was sure. Response: "I don't know". I asked for the VIN and using my local dealer I discerned that it was still under warranty. Long story short, I did their leg work.

Based on personal experience, I have very little faith in dealer salesmen. Run the VIN.

I just bought a used '08 from a private owner. Stock, except for a very nice Corbin saddle. 22k miles, paid $8200. I'd keep looking for a better deal than these bikes

I was really hoping they would let me take one of those for a ride. I know the FJR is the bike I want I just wanted to take one for a spin. When I am ready to pull the trigger it will not likely be at a dealer unless they have a smokin price. I have been searching far and wide and have to be honest that a fly and ride home sounds like a really great time. I may call just to check the VINs just to put this thing to bed.
