Since I do not yet have a tool for the throtttle body sync I thought I would ask the local Stealer how much the 600 mile service would cost. The answer was $260 and I am not sure that even included the sync. I was told that it took 3 hours. I replied, "three hours to change the oil in the engine and rear drive?" The reply, " they tighten all the bolts. I told him I would be buying a service manual and doing it myself. I am wondering if the three or four thousand mile service would be even more but didn't ask.

Thats what I paid. he scared me with a valve adjustment price but don't have to worry about that for a while.

Mine was $97 without the oil change which I did. They lost one of the plastic quick fasteners, put the wrong size clip nut (don't know their real name) on the right panel and put in a wrong screw. After I did my first TBS myself, I am positive the rubber caps were never removed. My steering head nut still needed adjustment after the chekup and I did it. There are something like something like 10? Yamaha dealers within about 75 miles of me, the three closest ones won't be seeing my FJR and only one has shot of seeing it "IF" it is too serious for me to do myself.

You realize that is a very sad commentary on the state of Yamaha Dealers in your area.....I guess none of those around you are recommended 5 star dealers?...

That's about the price I paid a year ago at I90 motorsports in Issaquah, WA. They were supposed to tighten all the bolts.. yeah right. Two weeks later I almost lost my front fender after losing one nut and almost losing the other.

Do the simple work yourself. You can't trust the shmoes at the dealers.

That's about the cost I paid for my 600 mile service, with TBS. I have done all subsequent services myself after that first enlightenment.
