Recently bought an '06, slightly used, and am considering the YES. I normally don't purchase additional insurance on items I buy, thinking that once an item out lives it's factory warrenty, it's a keeper anyway. What's your experience with these machines? And is the YES the same as the original warrenty, or is it limited? I'm new to the FJR (Yamaha) world. TIA

Hey, is this where I get to say Phuckin New Guy... try the search function? Or is that strictly an Administrator privilege???

Um, searching for "Y.E.S." gives an error. Phrase is too short.

Me, I got one for my '05. Its already paid for itself.

Collectively no, (or Yamaha wouldn't offer it). But individual results will vary. It usually only takes one moderate repair to get your money back. Piece of mind might be what you're looking for; then I say go for it. Personnally I said no, to Y.E.S., and haven't needed, it but who knows if I'll be bitten down the road. My take is that I don't buy extended warranties but what you choose is your business.

(You can always look at it like this: you're betting the bike will break, Yamaha is betting it won't.)

I didn't buy a 2005 with 1700 miles on it to a large extent because the warrantee expired. I'm getting four years of extra protection for $100 per year. I probably will never need it. I look at it like insurance, you probably won't need it but if you do it's kinda nice.

Normally I'm with you on the extended warrenties--------they are just not worth it because of the restrictions(read milage here). Extra Four years, unlimited milage,$100 a year. Y.E.S.

I didn't buy them until I bought this bike, it has more than paid for itself!

Just make sure that where you buy the bike they have a good mech!

besides the waiting for parts, fun! them paying to fix it was priceless.

i have an 06 and i haven't used the extended warranty yet. i do have a suggestion. you can search through ebay or google for the Y.E.S. for a reduced price. my dealer wanted $800 for the warranty. i bought mine on ebay from another dealer for 1/2 that. same YES from any dealer. after i paid $400 my dealer told me he would have matched the price.
