My wife and I have been using Bill Pay for years and love it.....loved it.

Get a $118.10 bill for our cell phones. No big deal, slightly less than normal, go to our account, select payee, select amount, send payment. Done.

Couple days go by and something isn't quite right with our account. We received several checks from the insurance company for the repairs to our house from our house fire this summer, and the balance seems low. Go online to check, and find that for some reason, we sent our cell phone company an $11,810.00 payment!!!!

Apparently, we forgot the decimal point when sending the payment. This was last Thursday when we discovered it. Now, come Monday, the cell phone company still has our money. Apparently, they don't want to release money received!

We'll see if tomorrow's rounds of phone calls go any better.

I actually had one customer service representative say, "You know, you can leave the money in your account and just not pay us for a few months." A few months??? Try eight years!! No thanks, just give me my money back!

I wish to have your issues :D

Here is what I do. I do not keep any money on the checking account until I need to pay the bills. Then I transfer money the night before into the checking. This way even if you forget to put the point you wont have that much money on that account.. Problem solved.

Plus, your money do not earn anything while they are in checking account.

As far as getting your money back. I think there might be a law prohibiting them keeping your money. Ask to speak to the super.

Let them keep the money and charge them the same interest rate that they charge you on overdue accounts.

They will have a cheque in the mail in no time....

I want to clarify, I don't usually have $12,000 in my checking account. The check cleared because we had just deposited a $30,000 insurance check for the house fire. In fact, that $30,000 is gone already in that I wrote a check to the contractor fixing the house a check for $30,000 as a 15% deposit on all the work they are doing.

He has been kind enough not to cash that check until I get this cleared up.

Ouch...

That sucks...

Been there done that, only not quite soo bad. :/ That's a lot of chachka
