Looks like Dakota is going to pull through... thanks for the "doggie prayers!"

The doc is going to keep him until later this afternoon and I'll pick him up just before they close. I know he'll be happy to come home to the family. My wife is going to sleep in the guest room tonight so Dakota can sleep in the bedroom. (She's going to the guest room because Dakota likes to get up on the bed and sleep beside me... and two people and a large dog don't fit well.)

Glad to hear Dakota is going to be ok.

:thumbsupsmileyanim: :yess:

Our JRT Penny says...... well..... oh crap. I can't even spell what she's sayin .... but I think it means "way to go Dakota, fight the good fight ! " :hyper:

Here's the little boy after his fight...

The black areas are flesh that has died, along with some dried blood.

Well that don't look too bad -- and he looks like he has recovered pretty good. I guess you could not ask for it to come out much better than that. Good for all three of you. C.R.

Glad to see your kid is OK.

My puppy is my kid too, I can relate.

My kid looks like this,

Mine is 110 lbs now. (don't have any good pictures lately - not a picture taker)

since my wife and I have four cats and (only) one dog at the time,

I know how important those little critters can become.

They're too damned curious and not enough smart. Our lab

(passed away a couple of years ago) used to get pincered on the nose by land crabs

living under our hedges. He'd always be trying to play with them.

My guess is Dakota was just being curious...nasty lesson!

I'm really happy Dakota lives to play another day.

:yahoo:

Very good news about Dakota! The best news of the day for sure. he looks like a great dog. Hope things get better with the wife too.

Marc, glad your pup is OK. I think Smitty's on the road now or I bet he would've come over to watch him today for you himself! You know he loves his dogs.

On a lighter note, that Smuggler looks good. I didn't think it would fit with that Canyon seat. When I talked to Corbin, they told me I'd have to order the one that's pictured, with the goofy sculpting in the leather.

We do like our Canyon's!

So glad to hear the good news about Dakota! The only poinsonous snakes around Orangevale are rattlers and rattlers.

Luckily, they don't really come into the neighborhoods around here.

Came home the other day and our little pups had put the bad hurts on the squirrel that had been tormenting them for so long. Seems they had removed the little critters front legs and left him there in plain view for all the other squirrels to view. Sorta like, you mess with us and this can happen to you. Woo, sorry I had to share that, but glad Dakota is doing well. PM. <><

Hijacking this thread to be a "animal that your pet killed" could get it moved. Let's talk about critters our FJRs killed. So far: 2 birds. My FJR is trying to catch up with the cats in bird count. However, it has no interest in hitting larger animals!

+1 on the larger animals. So far I've only got a few small bugs on the window and one really sceeeeard Jack Rabbit. Oh, I did mention how the dog was, does that count? PM. <><

I've just got to say... you guys are great!

I just got a PM from sleddoc, he hadn't seen any updates on Dakota and he was curious how he was. Dakota is doing a lot better... but he must remember something because he does not like going into the back yard like he did. He'll go outside, but he will spend most of his time on the deck, looking out into the woods.

Thanks to everyone for all your kind words... okay, I'd better stop before I get too sappy! I wish I was going to WFO so I could buy you all a couple of rounds.

Since I won't be there, put a couple of rounds on skooter's tab... I'm sure he won't mind.

I'm not sure why i didn't see this thread originally. It just never popped up when looking for "new" posts.

Glad to hear everything is going well.
