I love it!

It doesn't look like it in the photo because of the lighting, but the color match is perfect. Still had a few problems with the mounting, but I got it on.

Oh, the bad news? My wife e-mails me at 10:00 in the morning to tell me she thinks one of our dogs bit another one of our dogs. Knowing my dogs the way I do, I call her to get more details. She tells me how bad it was and I told her the dog was bitten by a snake. She tells me "no way" and tells me she didn't have time to take the dog to the vet. I'm at work, an hour and ten minutes away and on the air... so there is no way I can leave. I get home at 4:00pm to find the dog barely breathing. He's rushed to the doctor and they determine he was bitten by a snake. They think he will make it... the next 24 hours are the bad ones.

I won't be sleeping tonight and if you include dogs in your prayers... Dakota could use all the help he can get.

Make sure you PROPERLY thank your wife for helping out your dog - too 'busy' to take him to the vet - great! Good luck, hope he/she makes it!

Damn, sucks about your dog... hope Dakota pulls through. Don't know if you knew it, but there are rattlesnake vaccine shots you can get for your dog... works for Rattlesnake bites, and I've had my lab immunized for Dove hunting season. 2 shots, administered by your vet. If you're interested, try the link.

Boy, shes just a peach, isn't she? Sorry to resurrect this, but it certainly doesn't seem like she is very into anything but her. Say hey to the pooch fer rad.

I'll let him lick me for you! (Get that mind out of the gutter!)

Take it easy on her... even though we are having our problems it wasn't a "who cares" thing. She was in a hurry to get to work and she really didn't think it was a snake bite. When she found out it was a snake bite and how bad it was, she started crying. We both hope he makes it!

Thanks for the thoughts... the dogs are my kids!

Doc thinks it was a Copperhead. Says if it was a Rattlesnake, he would have died. As it is, he's going to be missing some flesh. Doc says he'll have a couple of thumb-sized pieces of flesh missing from his face.

From their FAQ...

What types of snakes does this vaccine protect against? This rattlesnake vaccine was developed to protect against Western Diamondback Rattlesnake venom. It is most effective against this snake's venom.

Venom from many other snakes found throughout the United States is similar to the venom of the Western Diamondback Rattlesnake. Because of these similarities, this vaccine also provides protection against the venoms of the Western Rattlesnake (including the Prairie, Great Basin, Northern and Southern Pacific Rattlesnakes), Sidewinder, Timber Rattlesnake, Massasauga and the Copperhead. This vaccine provides partial protection against the Eastern Diamondback Rattlesnake.

This vaccine does not provide protection against the Water Moccasin (Cottonmouth), Mojave Rattlesnake or Coral Snakes. Red Rock Biologics is developing a variety of vaccines to provide the best protection against poisonous snakes for dogs in each part of the country.
Again, hope he pulls through ok...

Well, then I take it back, somewhat. Though I have to say, if I told the SO to take the critter to the vet on a hunch, she'd be in the car before I finished the order, and vice versa, but I won't belabor the point.

Thanks!

I guess I'll be checking this out first thing tomorrow!

Very much understood... that's one of our "issues" that we are trying to work out. I don't want her to feel bad about what happened, but it's probably good that she does feel bad.

You have my best wishes for the fast recovery of Dakota. If he's going to get bitten by a pit viper, then it's better that it was (might have been) a copperhead. They are the least venemous of the group.

Is he being treated with antibiotics as well? A snake bite can give a nasty infection.

Yes, they gave him several shots... one of which was an antibiotic. They had to put him under to work on him, so he spent last night in the clinic. We will get an update this morning and we should be able to pick him up this afternoon.

good luck with your best friend - lots of us are pulling for him...

and the new addition to the bike looks good. One of the guys I ride with here in Houston as the Corbin seat like yours and it does look good.

But, for what you pay the damn thing better occasionally do a "reach around" on the owner.

+1 My wife would probably have called me from the vet to let me know what happened. Too bad we sometimes let our jobs get in the way of the really important things in life. Too bad her boss apparently would not have understood if she showed up an hour or two late.

W :) :) F W :D :D F to Dakota to get better. I had a Vizzla sp? get bitten by a rattlesnake at my ranch. Well over 1200 USD to make the dog better. And a nights sleep lost. Survived though... Best to Dakota.
