I rode home the long and put on 385 miles. Haven't played with the suspension yet. After 100 miles or so after the tires had been scrubbed, I started playing with sport mode. Wow what a difference, scared the crap out of myself.
One of the more intoxicating features of the FJR is the effect you get when you light the after burners. I just did a 780 mile weekend on California 2-lane roads with plenty of opportunities to drop the hammer (passing slow cars/trucks mostly). Yowza!

Congrats Brit Rider! Find some excuse to go on the Bainbridge ferry during commute hours and meet the other 5-6 guys who ride FJR's every day. Bunch of happy dudes.

I've got 1,200 miles on my 2014 now and am in love. Rode to Anacortes yesterday and in the magnificent sun I just about reached nirvana on the bike. That cruise control is heaven. I would wave to Harley guys with my right hand and they seemed to do a double take. Cruising at 80mph feels like 20, with more breeze.

I do 70mph at about 4,000 rpm in 5th, and that is perfect to me. Plenty of rpms for sudden acceleration, and yet not even half way to red line at 9,000 or top speed.

I've gotten so comfortable in corners and turns that I am feeling like a much better rider over my previous bike, when it probably isn't me. It's the bike.

The FJR is a great all-arounder: sport, power-cruise, tour... I rode mine 300 miles yesterday and the roads are still filthy so "sport" was out but that big Feej will power-cruise! I had the Big Hole River valley all to myself and did some high-speed work - the 95-105 mph range for miles and miles. The FJR was just yawning. Congrats! You are going to like this bike...a lot!

I've only put just short of 27000 miles on my '09 and still can't believe what a great ride it is. Hard to imagine that the Gen III is that much better but when all I read is how much better they are than theGen II, I have to believe there are some big improvements. Hard to figure out what they are though. The easy way to find out would be to upgrade but since we just found out today that our office is going to be transitioned and there will be positions eliminated this is not a good time to even think about a purchase. There are a lot of miles to go on the '09 so i don't feel deprived.

Well DennisJ, I hope your not axed!
