It's BLUE!

IMO it's more like the 2006 color than Galaxy Blue.

The bike isn't too bad, but.... The huge bloody sponson of an exhaust that sticks about 6 inches beyond the rear wheel I can't get over, yuk.

I like it overall, but I agree what is with Kawasaki and Honda and the new cans .. Ugh. I could do without the raised lines on the side cases too.

I don't know why everyone blasts the kawi for it's ugly exhaust, sure it's ugly but it is an easy fix. Just replace it.

Also, I think the cat. is in the tail pipe which gives another reason to replace it.

Traction control, heated grips, extra hp, tire pressure monitoring and on and on..... makes those speed lines more palatable. Cans are pricey but can be replaced.
Yeah, I don't get the Connie bashing. While it isn't my "cup of tea", it is a very nice motorcycle and Kawi seems to have listened to the owners and changed/added features for the new model.

I'm not in the market for a new sport touring bike nor am I ready to exchange my FJR. If I were, I'd take a long look at the 2010 Connie and the new VFR (but for the "1st model year syndrome" of the Honda).

I agree Mike.

However, after my experience with the 1st year of the GEN II FJR, I would not go for the new 2010 Connie -- I'd wait for any bugs in the electronics to get sorted out and go for a 2011 or 2012. If I was in the market to replace my sport-tourer.

Waiting a year or two has two other advantages. Either Yamaha takes the challenge on and listens to their customer wishes with a major upgrade worth buying, or the known 2010 Connie (inevitable) bugs are worked out and you find a clean used version to have fun on at a discount. With the cash saved you buy new cans or suspension.

I know I'll be branded a heretic by some, but the FJR is getting long in the tooth, and traction control alone can save me hospital bills. If Kawi really has sorted out the heat problems and windshield buffeting issues, etc. I would buy the Kawasaki. It has negatives like higher maintenance costs, but unique features in the class worth a small premium, IMHO. I can overlook some styling cues for that raer drive shaft. Ya can't see half that stuff from the saddle anyway.

The Beemer has nice features, but at too high a premium for me.

The new transmission on the Honda Viffer intrigues me, but still seems a little gimicky to me. And the styling doesn't float my boat.

I'm not in the market, but I may be in two years.

MM2 - Actually it's not just the Connie, IMO many of the new motorcycles coming from Japan look to Power Ranger-esk for me. Huge bazaar shaped exhaust cans, wild angles, etc. The GSXR one of my favs has turned rather ugly. The R1 is not far behind. Even my dear Italian favs, the Duc's, are getting on the outer fringe for me. But that's just me I guess.

Unfortunately, the two "cats" are in the header pipes and the source of most of the heat that gets dumped on the right leg...which can feel pretty good when riding below 50 degrees.

My '06, except for having to replace the headlight reflector twice (under warranty) has been just fine, thanks. And mine is no garage queen.

Kawa builds a VERY nice ride, though the pieces aren't finished as nicely nor do they fit together as well. And if you'd been on a C14, before buying the FJR you MIGHT have to think real hard about spending the extra cash to upgrade from a no-ABS C14 to a Gen-II FJR. The C14 is MUCH smoother and the transmission shifts MUCH cleaner and the bike pulls somewhat harder when you REALLY want it to.

The Gen-II C14 is priced about the same as our ride now.

But the blue is a bit too bright for me - I'd have preferred a 'ticket me red' over this year's color choice.

Well, I suppose blue had to come around on the color wheel eventually

I personally got a FJR because I like the looks and size better, but the concours engine is something special. I'm still getting used to the relative buzziness of the FJR...

What gets me is you buy a fourteen-thousand-dollar bike and you don't any choice in the color? For example, I hate the "Dr Pepper" color of my '07. Suzuki's bargain-basement SV-650 comes in a choice of 2 colors, so you can't tell me "it isn't done".

Nice ride but I just can't get over that 90's Pontiac styling with the plastic ribs and all.
Reminds me of Mami Vice

I thought the black and copper rib thing on the 09 ZX-14 was kewl. IMO.
