Anyone use this and have it permanently mounted on the bike? If so, I'd love to see pictures of how you mounted it.

I used mine for the first time this weekend. I just use a reflective belt that you can buy at an army surplus type store (used for army PT) and strap it around my jacket. I figure a little more reflective material can't hurt.

For mounting it to the bike, the best idea I can come up with is putting a tankbag on the bike, and sewing a strap or using a strap on the tankbag to put through the belt loop holder.

Good luck on that one Grumpy. I don't see how you would mount that on the bike. I use the handlebar mounted CB System and really like it. My Garmin 550 is integrated into it and works great. It's definately not a portable device like the Integrator though. Check it out here if you like. https://www.jmcorp.com/SeeProducts.asp?PF=39

I now have gone with a 48" J&M antenna, and after a failure and courtesy replacement of the staff, I have a small metal with rubber lined clamp from Home Depot bolted to the ouside of the Yammy trunk supporting the antenna about halfway up.

No more problems, but it prevents the easy removal of the trunk. My trunk has never been removed by moi anyway.

let's ride safe and be careful out there,

I'll look for some pics when I get home tonight. Unlike Patriot, I started with the 48" antenna and last year switched to the 24" length. The 48" was all over the place cruising down the road. When I ordered the 24" antenna, J&M support told me that their tests and setup of the unit for the FJR was done with a 24" long antenna. The CB portion of the unit did seem to respond better with the shorter antenna.

Here are some pictures of my setup. The antenna is 48" and is attached via a metal plate to the underside of my Hepco-Becker bracket which is bolted to the subframe making a solid grounding point for the antenna. The antenna has a swivel at the base so that it will lay down when I put the cover on the bike.

Here is the setup on my handlebars.

I got a solid 2 mile range when I tested the cb with a friend of mine.

well yeah...my unsupported 48" was horizontal at speed :yahoo:

I started with the 24" and it was hidden behind the trunk with the point too low to work - 1/4 mile at best

2+ miles with 48" which is needed when PGR control bikes are the leader and the tail gunner separated by the funeral escort from just behind the lead police and the tail behind the last mourners vehicle

YMMV

This is the best I can come up with. CB Unit on the left bar which is the only place you can mount the unit. Garmin Unit mounted between bars. 24" antenna mounted with the stock bracket from J&M which doesn't show in the picture very well. I don't have any shots of the where all the wiring goes which is the biggest challenge, at least it was for me. But it's doable. Just got to get a little creative.
