Further reading tells me that any points earned by a temporary replacement go towards the Team Championship points while a 'wildcard' entry's points do not go towards the Team Championship points.

Good to see Hacker rewarded. Sure hope he can do well, he's certainly fast @ Laguna on superbikes but GP's are a whole other matter.

I wholeheartedly agree with them being a whole other matter, but, he did break the lap record on Kawasaki's Autopolis circuit during his testing on the bike this week. Should be interesting. Big difference being on a track by yourself and lighting it up with 20 of the world's best.

Interesting. do they not use up the wildcard slots in that case? So they can also still have the wildcard rider as well?

Correct. They could field more riders if they had the bikes/riders/crew etc.
