It is a tragic coincidence that riding legend Ardys Kellerman was taken

from us on June the 24th, which is also the birthday of riding legend, John

Ryan. Both good folks spent extended stays at the house, here in Hinckley,

Ohio. Both enjoyed lunches at the Diamond Deli, in downtown Akron, Ohio.

This year, I again propose a Ride-To-Eat at the Diamond Deli on the weekend

just following that day – on Saturday, June 27th. That is the weekend just

after Fathers' Day and the weekend before U.S. Independence Day, making a

kitchen pass possibly easier to obtain. The R-T-E is to honor these two

legendary riders, and to remember them.

Diamond Deli is owned by a friend, who remembers John's many visits. The

Deli is open from 11am until 7pm on Saturdays. There is generally plenty of

on-street parking in front.

Feel free to invite all solo riders and small groups, especially friends of

Ardys and John to join in.

Diamond Deli, Akron, Ohio 27 June 2015 - Noon or so.

Ardys was an amazing woman. Hope I can still ride at 80 yrs. old, though reaction time might advise otherwise. She stopped by our Beemer rally in Heber, AZ a few years back and we all enjoyed her many stories of trips to everywhere. Would love to join in, but it's a bit far for lunch. I'll be there in spirit. God rest, Ardys!

BTW, my first post regarding this get together was copied from a post from Jim Shaw of LDRiders. Just passing on the info to members of our group. My son Trevor and I will be attending the RTE with a friend Tim from the Philadelphia area. Tim and I met John at Aerostich's Very Boring Rally in Diluth, MN and had a great conversation with him. We also heard his presentation at the rally. He was a great guy.

I've heard many stories about Ardys and her amazing life of riding. Hope to see many of you there.

Jeff

Will do Joe. Trevor and I will be meeting Tim from Philadelphia around Mercer and riding in from there. When I get a definitive time for the meet up, I'll let you know our approximate arrival time at the Diamond Deli. Since Tim is riding all the way from Eastern PA, we may get there toward the end of the lunch. Although Tim has surprised me many times with his long overnight rides. Those IBA guys love the long slab rides as did John. I'll keep in touch. Thanks again for leading the great ride from Beallsville to Mineral Wells. A great time had by all.

Have a massive pile of Corned-Beef in memory! :) . You guys be safe and what a great event to uphold!

Have fun...see you in September

Hey Joe! I haven't heard anything differently. Trevor and I plan to be there along with our friend Tim from Philadelphia. Hope to see you there also.

So Joe, is there any good roads to ride in the area? I am itching to get out and ride since my academic pursuits killed the Black Hills trip. I have Friday noon to Sunday evening to find something to do. This RTE sounds interesting. Only 400 miles away, a mere crosstown ride in honor of the legends.

Plenty of GREAT twisty roads, about an hour south of that area.
