No pic's it didn't happen! :p only kidding.
Glad you made it O.K.George!!!. Now lets get the bike fixed in time to make it to EOM. Man I can't believe this didn't turn out worse. You have angels looking over you for sure. I am glad to see you got right back on the bike again and rode it home. Uuuuuuse is one tough dude B) . Hope you heal quick.

Dave
Ya know, I do not think that anyone took any pictures of the scene... (although, I am waiting to see a pic of the shiner) I know there is a shiner!

I was about 100 feet behind you, George. I did not see you originally leaving the road since I was still looking around the turn. It wasn't until you left my direct field of vision that I realize that you were off roading. I made it a point a long time ago not to stare at the bike in front of me.

If you don't already realize how lucky you are, let me tell you. You did a zig zag in the ditch. It almost looked like you might pull out... but you didn't. I remember seeing the bike ride up the wall some... but had no idea that it went to the extreme that it did.

We looked at the area where you went off the road. There were tire marks from your bike about 4 to 5 feet up the embankment wall directly around a directional arrow sign. Something hit the corner of the sign. If it were you, I'd expect that you'd know it. It looks like because you rode up the embankment wall is the only reason that you missed that sign. You have angels riding with you. I imagine that sign would've ruined your day more than what happened.

Let me tell you... we were amazed!

Glad that it wan't a LOT worse than it was.... Mr Nuggets of Steel. Riding home after that! Wow!

Lifting that bike off of you, all I could think was... I'll bet that he is getting burnt by the muffler. That was a relief that you did not.

Oh, you owe one of the Harley guys a good wish. He helped me lift the bike off of you & he gave you a towel for your eye.

George

As Heidi pointed out, the outcome could have been a lot worse. You definitely had someone watching over you when you went off the road. I saw you in my rear mirror that I checked after I cleared the turn to see if you were all still behind me.

It really hit me in the stomach when I saw you go off and I was hoping you would make it back onto the road.

Don't beat yourself up about it. Be glad you are here to tell and didn't get hurt any worse then you did.

I am glad that we were able to help you as best as we could.

Hope to be riding with you soon.

Ingo

George - I have to chime back in to say it did take some big cahonies to get back on and ride it 188. VERY impressive! I know it was a little intimidating geting on it and driving it the 8 miles back to Duckies with the evidence of the wreck clearly visible. (Especially since there was no windshield or right side mirror!) The good news was that it felt fine frame and suspension-wise. We are all so glad that you are ok albeit the stiches and shiner.

Since you are ok I feel I should share the lighter side of my experience. Friday night Janet (my wife) and I were discussing riding comfort. I said that I would probably NEVER know what it was like to ride the pillion. NOT! I ended up riding twice on Saturday, so it threw that out the window. Suprised the hell out of Ingo when I hopped on too! I was a little more gentle with Jim.

Get that thing fixed and we will get together again for a ride.

There are no pictures of the site as we were all concentrating on taking care of you. The thought of pictures never crossed anyone's mind. We do want the shiner, though! ;)

About the AC-12. I bought one about a month ago and your right, it is a noisy helmet. But 90% of the noise comes from the top vents. Try covering them up with your hands while riding. Opened or closed it doesn't seem to matter.

Covering them up with your hands while riding???????

Glad to hear it wasn't any worse brother - Even grassy embankments can do terrible things to you. It's great that you recognize WHY it happened so you can make the neccessary corrections. Take it easy, rest up, get the bike fixed. BTW, where are the pics of that shiner???

Sumbitch! I forgot to take a pic of the guys riding 2 up!

Here are the pics:

There are six stitches on the big cut and 4 little ones in the crease of my eye. Looking at this again, I think the cuts came from my eyeglasses not the helemt shield.

Again I thank the people who helped me through this.

Awesome war wounds! Man George. What a trooper! And even nerve enough to share the pics. Did you ever find your glasses?

Glad you're OK there bellman. Get offs typically suck.

Glad to see you're not too badly hurt, but jeepers, next time you post extreme closeups give a warning first! JKJK Crash Club members get to poke fun at each other.

Wow, swelling has gone down tremendously. Last time that I saw you your cheek was getting huge. Get well soon... we got some riding to do... and definitely least important... you take a good look at the bike, yet? Wondering about damage. It looked mostly cosmetic. One of the guys said something about the luggage rack looking funky. Maybe a bent somethingorother. Must've been Jim. I think that he was riding behind Bob.

Edited to say... definitely sounding like it is your glasses that cut you. Amazed that they did not break. Sorry that you did not find them after taking them off. You wanted a new pair anyway, right?

Your ride home must've been interesting... especially once it got dark.

How Ironic, I had a little get-off myself in Virginia, somewhere on HWY 250 west of Staunton on June 23rd!

We rode that road on Sunday in honor of you FJRrider.

George so glad to hear your not to badly hurt. You rode 180 miles after getting sewed up? Your the DUDE...

I was four bikes behind you when you had your get-off, we were all flying in a pretty tight formation you should have seen the **** that happen behind you. We all got a chance to practice our emergence breaking procedures, I even checked out my off-road skills as you already know FJR off roading sucks.

After seeing how all the riders re-acted / acted, your self included, I am proud to be in the FJR community.

Jim

Oh FJRrider... someone mentioned calling the cops. I said NO DON'T DO IT!!! They'll give George a ticket because they HAVE TO. It is much better off if we get out of here as soon as possible.
