Just a little humor this morning as i lay there in bed and the whole house starts to shake, I thinking mother nature is coming back to pay me an other visit!

So i look at the window and down toward the river i see the moon, bright as ever! Almost and yellow color.....more than likely was just cloudy white, but i didn't have my glasses on....

So then i scan the outside looking into the trees to see if there are any signs of wind blowing them around and nothing.... So i roll over and go back to sleep....

Funny!!!!!!!

Same here up in Terre Haute. I had checked the weather last night, hoping to ride or fly today. Nothing in the forecast. Then early in the AM, I hear "thunder". Looked out the window, saw moonshine. Dogs were still asleep and didn't even budge. I rolled over and went back to sleep in seconds.

Really weird. Last earthquake here that I remember was when I was a kid. Googled "earthquake today" and found out that there was another 5.4 quake in about the same area back in 1968 (when I was 10).

I remember a few tremors back then I was in school, and of course I remember the earth shaking back when I was in college, but that's another story all together.

Wonder if we'll get little aftershocks? You guys out west are probably ho hum about 5.4 on the Richter scale, but those of us in the cornbelt only seem to get this little excitement every 40 years or so.

We have any members over by West Salem, IL that were on top of the quake? How about the rest of you mugs, how far away could you feel the quake?

WHoa! AFTERSHOCK! I was awake for this one. In the middle of injecting one of my dental patients. Thought he was getting a little squirmy, until I felt the building start to move under me. COOL! Glad it was minor, no damage (yet?).

haven't caught the news yet, but I'm assuming new Madrid fault? Time to play some uncle tupelo.

To the patient or your building? :p

BTW, my wife felt the tremor...oh...I'm sorry...this post is about earthquakes.

Was not the New Madrid fault.. seems was the Ozark Dome..or some such sounding thing.

Here is STL was felt pretty well. Had a few chunks of concrete fall off an overpass and a few houses in the city suffered minor damage.

First quake was at 4:37 am and measured 5.4, the after shock at 10:15 was 4.6.

The center was in Illinois near the Indy border. A town less than 15 miles away reported a porch collapsing, and a liquor store reported the loss of 2 grand in "top shelf" booze. Seems they actualy had them on the 'top shelf" and they were the only bottles broken.

Odd that today is the aniversery of the Great Quake in San Francisco , April 18th (1906?) that devistated that city.

In 1968 we had a quake of simular magnatude , appearently do to the same Ozark Dome fault. The New Madrid fault is south of here, and still holds the record for producing the strongest recorded earthquake in the US..back in 1890 or so. a 8.9 or 9.0 I think.
