Just found these parts ..

It's not an empty tray either. I have a fuseblock there with mucho wiring and a power commander. Found the parts entangled in the wiring up near the back edge of the gas tank.

I think they have to do with mounting the air box.

Yes AJ is an Idiot but in a good way.

 
It's the bolt and retaining nut for the back of the airbox. The nut slides into a slot on a bracket on top of the airbox, and the bolt goes through the bracket at the rear of the tank down into the airbox bracket. There are two of these, one each side of the center.

You may need to remove the tank, then remove that tank bracket to get the captive nut back into place.

I've got a little pile of 4-5 screws and washers on the corner of my worktable accumulated from various wrenching tasks on different vehicles. I figure if I'm working on something again and see a hole where there should be a screw it'll come from my little pile.
