my car that is...driving to work today in my WRX and failed to navigate a sweeping LH turn at 15mph and promptly ran into the curb (we got a couple inches of snow today). Managed to do $900 in damage as the wheel, tire, tie rod, knuckle joint and ball joint all need to be replaced and then aligned. Hopefully I wont have any alignment/drivetrain issues after this is all said and done but the shop it is at is first rate. First accident after many years of driving in snow.

I need some of Skyways sliders for my scooby!

:(

I would think Bridgestone Blizzaks would be more in line as opposed to sliders....just a thought.... .....

Well, the wife ain't too happy, especially in light of the fact that I give her grief over her everyday driving.

I may have just used up my EOM funds unless I sell some blood or something.

Your point would be? Go for the femoral artery. You can get good flow outta that one. Don't ask me how I know..

As a fellow Scooby owner, I feel the pain of you pranging your WRX. You would probably enjoy my little '04 Forester. We have gotten it up to 338 HP at the wheels with 365 lbs/ft of torgue. Ran my best time last week of 12.7 secs. in the quarter at 113.mph.

Wow thats pretty damn impressive...any problems with the tranny yet or do you do many launches? (The tranny is the weak point of the WRX) I know the stock XT's, even with the 230 or 250 stock can still rip off some good quarter times.

I would love to mod my WRX and go to maybe stage 2 but the wife wont allow that, too much money and if I were to bust something I'd get an earful. Besides, I ride the FJR so much now, that I have only put 5k miles on my car in the last 1.5 years. I pretty much use it when it snows or to tow my bikes/mulch around.

Well, hopefully, once they bolt the new parts on, the alignement will go smooth and nothing else will eb found to be damaged like a control arm.

The tranny in my Forester can handle the action ( but it is, frankly, at about its limit....any more power and and it might have a problem ) and I have gone to a much more stout clutch. I don't usually do full-bore launches in the car as I have it set up for SOLO racing primarily....much modified and lowered suspension. When I do launch it hard, I'm not too agressive.....get it to 2500 - 2800 rpm and feather in the clutch, as opposed to 3000 - 3200 rpm with a sharp clutch drop. With a more agressive launch, I feel certain it would run in the 12.5 range.

The 4 - wheel drive in these cars eats up a lot of power, as I'm sure you know. A stock WRX STI is quoted at 300 hp. This is , of course, quoted power at " the crank ". I've seen quite a few of them run on a 4 -wheel drive dyno and they all produce 240 - 245 hp " at the wheels ". I'm happy with the 338 hp " at the wheels " I have now. I could go for more but the " bang-for-the-buck " ratio falls off dramatically from this point on.

Best of luck to you on the repair job.
