30 thousand miles that is...

I know, small potatoes for many here, but I live on a relatively small "island" (South Korea - water on 3 sides, and a dipshit to the north)...

....walk to work, so really no riding on work days...

...every one of those miles was for pleasure, and pleasure it was and is.

I have the forum to thank for my choice in rides, both those who are here and those who have gone.

Thank-you.

Well, happy "birthday." 30K on an FJR is a lot of fun no matter what, and it sounds like no freeway miles and all for fun! What could be better.

I got wondering about what the roads are like in S. Korea? Are there fun mountain roads? I really don't know much about the country and don't want to offend anybody, but are they well maintained? Or even paved? Traffic? I, for one, would love to see a good ride report from you. I've sure gotten a sense of what the countryside around Sri Lanka is like from Nik Isham's outstanding RRs, and it would be cool to know more about your part of the world.

Mike,

I've done a few reports in the past, and dug up this one from when the bike was new. Funny I rode this same route last Monday in half the time stated on this report. Amazing what we learn over the years.

Roads outside of Seoul are very much countryside, and lot's of "mountians" (like Japan, not much flatland, but the mountians are not much above 500-1000M.

Roads in the north and east (where I primarily ride) are very well maintained, as they have to be in case of contingency...

I think my ***** fell off when I was 30.. no wait! The wife took it away when she caught me playin' wif it.

Congrats man for whatever you did with the 30 thing..

Thanks for that link! It was a few months before I found the forum--in fact, right when I got my first FJR. Gorgeous scenery, but that lush green vegetation comes at a price. Greenhouses are lush and green too.

So bizarre to think of living under such a constant threat--dams designed to be blown up to hinder the enemy, things like this in the roads ready to be blown up to block enemy movement. Wow. And man, it looks like one of those would be easy to clip at night if you weren't on your toes.

Anyway, thanks for the response and the great RR.

you said island, so i thought you meant Cheju Do.

seems they've done a lot of painting and redecorating since i was on Hill 754. those concrete blocks used to be bare concreted. now they're camo.

congrats on the 30k
