I have a group buy going over on the ST Owners forums and thought I would post up here and see if any of you good folks would like to get in on it.

The group buy offer is: $92 + $5 flat rate shipping to USA addresses only

Pretty cool. I have not seen this brand before.

I'd be on it if I didn't already have something....

Nice price break niche between the cheap stuff (my modified universal vista cruse) and the higher dollar units.

Yeah, there are a number of the Honda ST guys that have them and really like the way they work. The gear thing, so they have said, makes it pretty easy to engage.

I was interested in this product because of its easy installation. I don't at all mean to rain on this parade of what appears to be a well made enthusiast product. I could not, however, gloss over the following "indemnity" listed on their website:

Indemnity: It is advised that the use of the cruise control is at the sole risk of the rider and by his/her decision to use it he/she does indemnify the manufacturers or organizers, their agents, employees and officers against any claim or action by themselves, their dependants or any other third party arising out of any loss, damage, injury or death suffered. [My emphasis]

This means if someone (you, your passenger, a random third person that may hit or be hit by you) is injured and sues Kaoko, for whatever legitimate or not basis, you, dear consumer, get to write the check. And while the indemnity may not ultimately be enforceable, it remains up to you to argue otherwise. And you'd get no help from your insurance company, whose obligation to defend runs only to you for your conduct, not to the manufacturer for theirs.

I'd be curious how or if Kaoko responds. Again, no slur on their product, which appears to be a creative approach, and their group buy offer is always appreciated but this indemnity is something forum members might wish to consider.

I personally don't see anything wrong with that. Their product is a throttle lock. You are mechanically keeping the throttle open at a set position and I am sure that if someone tries hard enough they could figure out a way to blame it for their actions, or lack of actions, in a panic situation.

I would imagine that any product like a throttle lock or cruise control, that is mechanically controlling the speed of the vehicle would have some sort of legal speak to insure that they don't get held responsible for their products misuse or incorrect installation or application. Heck, I have a whole paragraph of indemnity in the contracts that I have my clients sign, which includes a sentence on injury to any parties; and I photograph weddings...

Please understand that I am not Kaoko, I am just a guy with a sport touring bike who set up the group buy because I am cheap and wanted to save a little money! :D If you want to address this with them you would need to contact them through their website.

Got mine ordered today.

Got the response with the updated cost within 15 minutes.

Andrew forgot the shipping change, I sent him an email and he changed it and sent out the corrected invoice within 2 minutes.

Cannot say enough about the support on this buy.

Thanks for including us Punk.

O.k. another update, just received notice that mine is shipping out today...

Ordered, corrected, and shipped out in an hour and 4 minutes.... you cannot beat that.

Happy to include you guys!

I am surprised they shipped it so soon, as Andrew said he was going to place the order to the factory for all of them at the end of the group buy, but I guess if he had some in inventory, maybe he is using those as well.

Either way, I am glad I was able to get it organized and offer it to everyone...

The group buy closes this Saturday, so get your order in before the end of the day on Saturday if you want the group buy discount!

*** Group Buy Ends Today ***

Saturday is the final day to get orders in and get group buy pricing!

Already received mine yesterday.

I couldn't believe how quick he got it shipped out to me.

I didn't have time to install it last night, and I have a ton of things to do this week.

But I hope to have it installed by this weekend since I am teaching 2 classes and will get several hundred miles in going to the site and back.

Thanks again Punk.
