I was interested in this product because of its easy installation. I don't at all mean to rain on this parade of what appears to be a well made enthusiast product. I could not, however, gloss over the following "indemnity" listed on their website:
Indemnity: It is advised that the use of the cruise control is at the sole risk of the rider and by his/her decision to use it he/she does indemnify the manufacturers or organizers, their agents, employees and officers against any claim or action by themselves, their dependants or any other third party arising out of any loss, damage, injury or death suffered. [My emphasis]
This means if someone (you, your passenger, a random third person that may hit or be hit by you) is injured and sues Kaoko, for whatever legitimate or not basis, you, dear consumer, get to write the check. And while the indemnity may not ultimately be enforceable, it remains up to you to argue otherwise. And you'd get no help from your insurance company, whose obligation to defend runs only to you for your conduct, not to the manufacturer for theirs.
I'd be curious how or if Kaoko responds. Again, no slur on their product, which appears to be a creative approach, and their group buy offer is always appreciated but this indemnity is something forum members might wish to consider.
