The Concours adjustable windshield utilizes a cable drive mechanism. I wonder if this type of drive system will be as trouble free as the FJR's direct drive servo motor system?

Wonder if they’ll do away with the "auto-retract" function?

On a side note, I took a K1200GT for a test ride this past Sat. Was pleasantly surprised when I turned the bike off and the shield didn’t “auto-retract”.

I leave my screen down all the time...so I don't care about it. I just love being able to adjust on the fly if the rain comes...

The first time I rode with some fellow HD cruisers to the local Angleton Icehouse, as I parked and proceeded to dismount, the auto retract did its thing. As I was walking to the bar to get a cold one, another HD leather peacock asked me if my bike was the new BMW. I of course proudly said, "Nope, it's the new Yamaha FJR with the electronic adjustable windshield." I was grinning from ear to ear inside. :yahoo:

That was my first FJR...the '04.

+1. Only have it up when the wife's on the back and we're on the highway. I actually like the auto-retract. Sounds cool.

Many of us have disabled this stupid feature. It's relatively simple to do.
Copy that Skooter. Saw the thread on disabling the auto-retract and also referenced Warchild’s database :good: for detailed info. Was just thinking out loud. If big K employs a “canbus”--CAN, or whatever it’s called, like BMW’s then it would stand to reason their system might be programmed to function like the BMW’s.

Anyway, I liked the GT. In my book its got a lot of +’s and only a few –‘s. However, I’m anxiously looking forward to comparing it to big K’s new GTR. If neither one of those hit the mark for me I’ll probably be on another FJR shortly after the 08’s are released. And I’m hoping the 08 FJR will be offered in a high-gloss black!

Oh and one of the –‘s, IMO, for both bikes, is where could I mount a TOG?

Crashing "not" included :derisive: ....
Or desired!

Mostly rode with mine up when on slabs. Lowered it when road/other conditions required, let’s say, a little more attention to detail. :bike:
