When on our Hwy 36 ride last October, I had a chance to talk with FJRay about his KLR and the experience of riding one. I told him I was interested if he should ever decide to sell it. I had been considering a DRZ650 converted to "Adventure Touring", but honestly, it was a distant future plan.

Then Ray had the audacity to post THIS on the FJR Forum.......

Well, heck, shucks, darn and drat! I went scurrying to the bank website, checked the savings accounts, thought about it for....oh.....an hour or so, PM'd then emailed Ray, and now I own this:

Thanks, Ray, for keeping it "on ice" for a couple of weeks until I could meet you for the exchange. It was worth missing the Yosemite ride to get the "baby" home. Its already loads of fun and I haven't had time to ride the dirt roads yet.

Uhm, there's another NorCal Forum member who has also gotten the Dual Sport bug......Dave?!?!?

Looks good, I picked up a 2004 in Feb.

4000 kms, so far.

Riding with the Dualsportbc group very second weekend.

The Fjr isn't getting much use.

Mark

Fjr eh

Kle eh

Well....If you got one, Mark, that confirms that I made a great decision! They are a hoot to ride, aren't they. The KLR sure makes the FJR feel huge in comparison.

Wow, a KLR with a Russell and more- you scored. Have fun and I am envious. :dribble:
Not only that, Barry, Ray is a full sized human being like you and I, so the aftermarket rear shock and the front spring spacers have helped the suspension enough that he had to lengthen the kickstand. A little difficult to mount up with the panniers, but after that....well, let's just say you'd be right at home. Yep, I agree: I scored!

Plus, it makes Khunajawdge jealous because he wants one, too!

C'mon Dave, post up..... Help make George's day!

Mike, good luck on your great buy. I now have a buddy FJR owner that has a KLR. Perhaps we should plan a get together somewhere near DV in the future. A great area for some KLRing while camping.

Very nice!

Now you just need to take it for a little shakedown cruise to ah, Patagonia, or therabouts!

And tell us all about it!

Can I have it back now??? I will miss it but I know you will enjoy. :clapping:

Oh, great. Now you're adding fuel to already well established fire that was lit some time ago. :dribble:

Thanks Mike, you really know how to make someone feel good. :D

If you guys get going with a tempting Alaska thread or email, that might be enough for me to

"head out to check out DS's for sale"

Nice bike BTW!! @#$%^&*

Hey...maybe we could plan a Dual Sport ride based in Sonora, CA. I know this guy (who will remain unnamed) who has been telling me about the roads up there. Lots of dirt roads, side roads, paved goat trails, twisty back roads, etc., etc., etc. He's mentioned a couple of times that he'd like to get a dual sport...mebbe if we planned a get-together in his neighborhood it would motivate him?

Yer fren, tew :spiteful:

Lessee, that could be TurboDave, TWN, Highlander, MM2, CAJW, Uberkul, Orangevalefjr, ? . ? .

...........and a certain farkle-maker could get measurements for add-ons :pardon:
