Ride/Campout?

Anybody interested in a ride gathering on the Kern River near Kernville on April 30 through May2/09?

There are Motels in the area. I have more info, but will reserve further info until I hear from FJR pilots.

Here’s where I'm thinking; Johnny McNally’s Fairview Lodge, bar, and Steakhouse

https://www.mcnallysfairviewlodge.com/McNallys/Home.html

I’ll be camping alongside the river at the Fairview campground on Friday night (hopefully in space 17 or 19), and will await riders on Friday evening and Saturday. I Plan for an evening meal at Johnny McNally’s on Saturday night. Lots of great roads in the area to explore like Caliente/Bodfish, Hwy. 178 and 155, Sherman Pass, Kennedy Meadows etc. on Saturday or Sunday.

This is a great time to spread the news!

For those of you who will be riding up to Kernville, please take a minute to stop by our new motorcycle shop just across the river from "the circle" in Kernville. My husband and I finally secured the old Dam Korner building (next to the Pizza Barn, across from The Hut) and will be moving our business, The Cyclesmiths, in on May 1st. We'll be open in a basic capacity by the 8th, and would love a chance to meet everyone who rides up!

We are planning for a big Grand Opening ride-in on Memorial Day weekend for anyone who is less likely to get flogged then vs. Mothers Day. There is also a great new restaurant moving in right next door, where the Whitewater Cafe has been, and we'll be partnering with them for great grub at our events and discounts on food while you wait for service.

We are located at 11417 Kernville Road, Kernville, CA 93238. If you come into Kernville through Wofford Heights, keep going across the bridge, past The Hut on your right hand side, and you'll see the big Dam Korner Koffee Shop sign on your left. There is a break in the median so you can make the left into our parking lot. If you're coming in from the other side of the lake, make the left onto Kernville Road and you'll be able to see the Dam Korner on your right.

Looking forward to seeing everyone!

Buenos dias, Jorge! Que tal? I am in the same boat, with that being Mother's Day Weekend. Want to do it at later dates???
Doun Don

Yo soy mui Bueno senor y tu? How about the weekend before on April 30 through May 2?

I know, it's MAY DAY so? I can make it then so that's the weekend. I'll change it on my original post.

Good to hear from you Wendy! I'll definitely be stopping by.

Are you going to be a certified Yamaha factory tech in your new business? I have a couple of small warranty issues to have taken care of.

Planning on returning to the Arctic Circle on your FJR 1300 soon?

cheers,

I'm a certified Yamaha tech (and Honda, Suzuki, Kawasaki, Royal Enfield, and Bombardier), but alas - warranty issues have to be taken care of at an actual Yamaha dealer. Unless it's a third party extended warranty, in which case I'd be honored to take care of you.

We'll be moving in to the shop on May 1, so we won't officially be open for business on May Day weekend, but we'd still enjoy seeing/meeting everyone.

https://www.fjrforum.com/forum//index.php?showtopic=107221 Khunajawdge: I'll join you on another time/trip. I'll still be winding my way back from Central Mexico at that time; riding my dual sport GS, 2K miles on dirt roads South of the Border.

I'm going to be peeling off from mis amigos at Zacatecas and head for El Espinazo del Diablo: Spine Of The Devil. OORAH!

If I see you post this in the Fall, I would love to meet you and your friends at Lake Isabella/Kernville. I do love that area!!!

Please just stay with the dates working best for you! We Zonies will be posting another Grand Canyon Ride; see you there!

Actually, we had planned a trip to the Arctic Circle again - this time on more appropriate dual sport bikes for a real off-road adventure. My brother is the publisher of a magazine that is sending him up for a story on 4x4 off-roading through Alaska and the Arctic, and we figured we'd tag along (and throw all our gear in their trucks). But with the new shop development, we'll have to put that trip off for another time. It's a lot easier to justify when I have paid vacations!

Also, we would love to haul out the smoker and host a BBQ when you guys ride up to Kernville. That is, if you have time to squeeze it in somewhere between the Lion's Back and dinner at McNalleys. Just keep us posted if one day in particular looks good, or if your dance card will be full (which I totally understand!)

Ya know what? I have a time conflict that has just reared its ugly head for the May Day campout. So "No can do" = Cancelled until Fall.

I'll be over to see your shop when we can muster a full contingent, and thanks for the idea/offer of the BBQ. That sounds like an easy one to put on the agenda! Thanks Mike and Wendy!

D'OH!

Well, anyone who happens in to Kernville is certainly welcome to swing in and say hi at any time, organized ride or otherwise.
