I travel quite a bit back & forth from Texas to New Orleans (my business is located there).

Any how, on my GL1800 I put my notebook in the bike's top trunk (amongst other things).

On the FJR1300AE, I am planning on using my Givi E52 to carry my laptop.

I am wondering what others do to carry their laptops.

Best Regards,

Shane

I used to carry my laptop in the side bag. I puit it in one of the bag liners with some foam to protect it. Well, the hard drive failed and had to be replaced. Can't say for sure but I suspect it was from riding in the side bag. Now I have a Givi top box and the laptop rides flat in there inside a backpack style PC carrying case. So far so good.

That is what I am planning on doing.

In fact, I just got a new / smaller laptop yesterday (Dell D820) for the main purpose of using it with the FJR1300. My current Dell 9300 is a little too big (when in case).

I just wanted to get other's experiences with the FJR.

Best Regards,

Shane

I take the side bags out, put the laptop into it's backback, and shove the backpack into the side case. I've been through two Dells with no problems.

Carnifex,

Which laptop do you have? The Dell D820 I just got is in the middle (15.4" screen).

I honestly thought it would be to big for the side bag (I am getting real anxious to get my FJR1300). When I need to get out, I will load my laptop into the GL1800 and head to a local State Park to work just to get outside.

Best Regards,

Shane

I haul my 12" Powerbook in my side bag in a padded case. I used to carry it in my Jesse bags on my GS with no problems. I did consider purchasing a Pellican laptop case and mounting it to my luggage rack.

I've had a C640, and now have a D610. I don't think my screen is near that big tho - I want to say 13.4 or something like that.

But the laptop fits with room to spare - my bag is a tight squeeze, but the laptop fits with ease.
