For those interested to know. The leaves around Asheville look great right now, although I dont think they're gonna peak another week or so.

I would recomend a week day ride for those wanting to hit the BRP, traffic is very heavy on the weekend.

The leaves are in peak color up in the " high Country ".......Boone, Blowing Rock, Banner Elk, etc. Nobody expected such a brilliant display because of the extended draught the area went through this summer ( and is still going through ). The colors this past week were as stunning as any I've seen in recent years. As noted by others, it's best to stay off the BRP during the weekends.....the hoards of cars and RVs will drive you batty.
