Got my new bike from Morristown Motor Sports, Morristown, TN last Friday afternoon. Sold my 03 Goldwing back in September of '05 so I have been without a ride for 8 long months! But, looks like the FJR will be worth the wait and aggravation of the PDP program! The ergos of the FJR are very different from the Wing, but, after almost 400 miles, I believe that it may become more user friendly for an old guy (Geezer). Maybe Skyway will get us some risers before long .
So, for the farkles. Last night I installed my Electrical/Connection power strip and ground block as a necessary first step to begin with for all of the powered 12V accessories. Then, I added my Autocom communication system and all of the interface cables for the CB (Cobra WXHH38), FRS (Motorola), radar detector, cell phone, PTT, MP3 (thanks to Kieth for all his assistance). I located the Autocom in the rear tail section where the two rubber cross straps seemingly were made for holding the Autocom. And, by the way, the size of the slotted opening in this area is exactly the right width for the Autocom (was not the case on the '05's and earlier models since I have already done lots of installs on my neighbor's '04 FJR...ie. learned on his first ).
Tonight I will finish the communication phase of my installs by adding all of my RAM Mount hardware to handle the radio(s) and radar detector mountings.
Then, remaining items on hand would be: Wild Bill's highway pegs; headlight modulator and tail light flasher; Moto lights; exhaust heat shields; High/Low/OK reading Volt meter warning light (don't need an actual readout meter since radar detector has on built-in); grip puppies; and lastly the Audiovox cruise control. (Hopefully, Fred H. will get on the stick and install an Audiovox system so we will have a go-by to follow for the '06 models. And, maybe he can figure out how to defeat the auto retracting windshield. Come on Fred...WE ARE COUNTING ON YOU... . So, stop working so much and get started working on your '06 so we can all stay out of trouble!!)
Now, here are some things I can tell you that don't fit the '06's (that did work on the '05's and earlier models): D&D Exhausts (the mounting hangars are the wrong angle on the redesigned '06...going back to Parts 411 today); Tank Slapper protection kit (Lucas has new kit designed and ready to ship and replace my incorrect ones which I will return to him); and Motovation Sliders (the no cuts come close to fitting but hit on the right side...Roland is sending a newly designed set in a few days to replace the set I'll return to him).
Well, that's enough rambling from me  !! Not sure whether I'd rather ride it or work on it !!!
