Ok So the plastic fender thing on the rear of the bike. Besides holding the plate and not slinging mud on the guy behind me is there a reason?

And has anyone removed theirs?

If so where did you put the plate? Pictures?

Some sport type bike, the SV 650 comes to mind have this and most of the guys remove it cause it looks weird.

Then I guess I should have worded that differently. I would love to search the board to answer the question about that weird plastic fender thing, What would I call that beside weird plastic fender?

Successful searching is not like sniper shooting, one query, one exact answer; it is more like artillery work – successive approximation.

Just for openers I used +rear +fender and it returned pages of hits, but on the first page I got ‘fender eliminator?’ as a topic. Hmm, sounds like a resource to try. Next search was +Fender +Eliminator, only 2 pages of hits this time. As I scan down the first page I see one thread that looks promising. Low and behold, the first thread I click on has pixs and how-to’s of bobbing the rear fender as well as offering fender eliminators with a tail hugger. Dang, I bet if I went beyond my first hit there would be even more good stuff.

Be bold, be brave. Searching isn't pass or fail, yes or no; risk drilling a dry well and move on. I did two searches and clicked on one thread to get what you are probably looking for.

Well, I just did a search using the magical term, wait......here it comes............*fender*, and in the list of threads I got were these two gems:

#1

#2

Ya know, I really do try hard not to be a search Nazi, but around here, a little bit of effort does go a long way.

Beat ya to it. I used + in my search windows, the + tells the search engine that both words must be included. Skoots * are added for emphasis, they are not to be used for search refinement. Search HELP is -- well, helpful.

Yeah, WTF? I usually pre-empt your thoughtful and helpful posts by a few minutes with my own version of tough love. I am slipping. Getting old's a bitch.

And good point, the "*"s, were my emphasis and should not be put in the search.

I cut the fender on the bnadit1250 I had, Wish I hadnt done it within a months time. Had dirt and debris all over the back of the bike every time I gat anywhere near water or dirt roads. Does look clean, but I am going tl leave this one stcok, If I mod it at all I will be adding an extender to it.
