I have been trying to sell my '06 FZ-1 since last August after taking a trip to the Canadian maritimes where I realized I should be on an FJR. I needed more creature comforts and storage capacity if I'm going to do a week or more long tours.

No takers on the FZ-1 until a guy in Colorado who owned an '06 FJR saw my ad on this forum and wanted an FZ-1. Could this be a match made on an internet forum? OK, so we send pictures and descriptions and basically try to feel each other out as to can we trust each other? After much discussion we decided to cast fate to the wind and say let's do it. A shipping company was hired to pick up each of our bikes, money was exchanged on my end, titles, bills of sales, and keys and manuals mailed to each other. Now the wait. When will the bikes arrive? Will we both be in the middle of a snowstorm when the truck arrives?

He received his FZ-1 first, was in the middle of a semi break from winter, slapped on a plate and took off on an 85 mile ride to see what his new bike is like. He loves it and is in the middle of doing the farkle thing.

I finally get the call yesterday that the truck will be at my house today. The ramp door opens and my FJR must be up front as I can't see it. All I can see is a Repsol Honda 1000 with it's single underseat muffler peeking back at me. Next thing I see are the svelt lines and side cases that only the FJR has as he backs it out onto the lift gate. He get's it on the ground and we push it up the driveway (just sanded) and into the garage where it will remain until the snow and ice melts. That leaves time to order all the accessories I plan to add for summer riding which at this point is (only)? two months away. I'm already in the planning stages of a tour to the Gaspe Peninsula in July. Now I know I will enjoy this summers tour as I have the right bike.

That's awesome, congrats ;)

At the beginning of your story...

I could only see part of the semi, but started to think...phuuuck, he sold his bike to get a big rig that's nuts.

Who did you guys use for shipping?
I went through ShipVehicles.com and got a great rate and wonderful service from an outfit called Daily Direct. You submit an RFQ (Request for Quote) and shipping companies contact you with their quotes. I think I ended up paying about $500.00 for cross-country.

Great deal. Sounds like it was meant to happen. Now you both have the bike you want, and you don't need to sell the other later. Who'd of thunk it?

Congrats on the new bike. But I see dry road and I believe I would have fired her up and froze my ass off for a maiden ride. Good luck with her and thanks for sharing.
