Took an overniter after the gathering of the clan at the tech day Sat., went up the Washington North cascade route Sun. and meandered hwy 20 to Kettle Falls Wa. for the nite. Mon. was down the road (395) to Chewelah, turn east at the center of town lite (only one) and headed up the Flowery trail toward Usk (had to scratch that itch) first 5 miles or so was pretty then the curves start for the next 20 miles, good pavement and very enjoyable. Stopped short of Usk and went back over to Chewelah. North up 395 to Addy and hung a left on Addy/Gifford road, beautiful back country roads, angled left and came out at Cedonia on hwy 25. As you head west on 25 past hunters point you will eventually go over a bridge to Fort Spokane, just over the bridge on the N. side is a big parking lot rest stop by the water, grass and shade to prepare you for the heat that comes next. Take the seven bays cut-off and spare yourself a lot of hwy 2. Going thru Wilbur on the West end of town is Doxies(?) diner, not bad, hwy 2 is pretty void of halfway decent sit-down eateries. Then it was the oven of Hwy 2 across the plain, down the hill, across the river and on toward Leavenworth, applepie and icecream at the big Y cafe, on over stevens pass, Ben Howard, Highbridge and home. It did happen this way even tho no pics(had to anticipate the droll comments) thought I would post it for info. value for those in the NW.
