I searched (so as not to increase my noobie karma) for +scanner +pdf +card and found zip!

My wife's Optometry office is going paperless, that means more scanners, fewer photocopies. We recently got THIS awesome scanner. (I am easy to impress) Place a stack of papers in there, and push one button on the scanner and it will scan both sides of all the pages and make a single PDF for you. All you have to do is name the file... Or not name it, and it'll put a sequence number on it. It's pretty cool!

Now, it'll read paper business cards, and save them as a PDF too, but it won't read a stiffer card, like a plastic insurance card, because it's not a straight shot thru the scanner. there is a little bend in the paper path and the plastic cards jam it up. So I bought THIS. a 'card' scanner. It seems very nice, it'll scan a business card and OCR it into a database/ contact book. Pretty cool, but I'm not bright enough to make it save as a jpg, or something.

Now with the lesson I've learned I've noticed some other scanners (like THIS) that have pictures of the scanner scanning a photograph. ....eh.. this one seems like the old days when you'd take a flatbed scanner and load up photoshop and scan, and crop and so on. That one button PDF thing has me spoiled.

So anyhow, I told you that to ask you this:

Anyone know of a one button scanner that will scan a plastic insurance card/ drivers licence into a JPG or PDF?

Thanks

Most scanners - like an all-in-one printer, copier, scanner - will scan an image into a .tif file.

You can find tif converters at download.com

Yea, I know I can scan them and convert them and so on, but we're looking for a one button scan that will save the file with no extra hassle. Time is essential when pretesting patients.

We have THIS one coming for a 30 day trial, and if that isn't gonna do it, we'll try THIS one.
