Hi all,

I have to be in Rhode Island next week for a few days so thought it would be a good time to take what will likely be the last ride of the season.

I am working in Barrington, RI from Monday (09/27) to Thursday (10/02). I am taking Friday and Monday off work so this gives me at least 2 days to ride around. I had mentioned to Axeman that I was thinking of Cape Cod but for no reason other than I don't know where the good places to ride are. I hope this post solicits suggestions.

So my plan is to Ride Fri-Sat-Sun (Oct 3rd, 4th, 5th) with the idea of finishing Sunday somewhere that I can either blast back to Nova Scotia from in one day. Or catch the Cat Ferry from Bar Harbor, ME on Monday morning.

I seem to be rambling. Anyway I would like to hook up and ride with others who know the area. So someone tell me where to go! (Something about that sounded wrong.)

My intention is to ferry over to CT on Friday night and stay in Charlestown, RI. Ride with GYPSY all day Saturday, dinner and then home on Sunday. Who else is in?

Count me in for Saturday, most likely 2up. Let me know the details as the week progresses. Meanwhile i will start looking at the maps. I did a trip this summer through Newport RI and then over to Conneticut and then back through RI and home again. If you have any questions about my area let me know.

If you make it "down here", I'd love to buy a fellow Nova Scotianer a beer! Keep us informed of your trip/route and maybe we can make it happen.

Hi folks,

Unfortunately given the damn storm we had this weekend I have had to postpone my work week in Rhode Island to the week of October 13th. Still planning to take the bike.

I don't know what it is about me wanting to ride and bad weather but they always seem to come together.

Sorry to hear about the weather impacting your ride. There will still be some good color down here mid October.

(That sure solves the conflict between my wife's birthday on the 4th and riding along with you on your trip through New England  )

I'm extremely flexible (or so Michelle says) so I'll keep an eye on the thread for the next opportunity to ride.

Let me know were you want to go, my wife and I share a cottage with her family in North Stonington, Ct so I know the roads at that end of CT pretty well. I van meet for the day as I believe the cotages will be closed for the winter by mid october.

Good to hear. I'll still be around and if you venture far enough south, I'd be happy to come out and meet you!

Don't listen to him, stay away............................he's only looking for free beer and for someone to change his headlight bulb. You have been warned.

He is just pissed off because his wife won't let him come riding on Saturday. Apparently she keeps his balls in a tiny little purse!

Glad to hear that your plans got pushed out. I had heard about this via Axeman earlier and then realized I have a bidness trip I need to go on myself this coming weekend that would have pre-empted the fun on Saturday. So now that it has pushed out I should be able to come out and play with you'se guys. :clapping:

Gypsy,

Any latest plans for a ride with NSRider for the Columbus Day Weekend? Prelim weather shows it warming up into the 60's (f).

Sull I spoke to NSRider a few days ago and the plan is for head out from Nova Scotia on Saturday. I have to fly to NY Wednesday and won't be back until Friday night. So probably won't get out of here until late morning on the Saturday. That would put us at Calais ME mid-afternoon. So we could plan to spend Saturday night in Ellsworth. How are you for Sunday? NSRider and I are both off on Monday as it is Canadian Thanksgiving. (We don't do Columbus Day. Do most people get C-Day off in the US?)

Actually I still had a week's worth of vacation left so I have the whole week off. :yahoo:

My family will be in Bath that day, running an antiques show. Hopefully wifey can stick the kids somewhere so I don't have to watch them. I know Rockland is an hour? from Bath north on route 1 and then further to Ellsworth.

Just picked up new turtlenecks and longjohns to get me by until heated gear happens.

Someone had asked recently on the forum if the adjustable "wings" on the sides helps the legs and I have to agree that it keeps the cold air off. Dont' get the engine heat now but wish it could happen for winter.

Holiday on Monday??>>> doesn't FJRob need some place to ride so he doesn't go into withdrawal symptoms?

Free beer is not a problem but you do *not* want me anywhere near your bike wrenching. I'm an accident just waiting to happen as the newly made holes in our bathroom walls from trying to install a new *shower rod* will attest. :(

Where is Ellsworth?

How are you for Sunday?
I have been told in no uncertain terms that I *must* be out of the house this weekend (my wife is finishing writing a book and apparently, I'm a distraction...) so anywhere in the general area is good for me.

Do most people get C-Day off in the US?
No - most Americans don't take or have it as a day off. WTF is the point of a "holiday" if you don't take it off!?
