Thanks to the information I have been able to garner from this site and thanks to Puppychow's excellent demonstration of the FJR's capability, I struck a very favorable agreement and commitment with a very nice local owner of an '05 FJR1300ABS. She is immaculate and only has <4400 miles on the clock. The PO has only put 800 miles on her since he bought her almost exactly a year ago. Sort of a strange coincidence, the original owner turns out to be a gentleman I know that was involved in Law Enforcement firearms training and competitive shooting events when I was heavily into that back a few years ago. I haven't crossed paths with him in a long while but he's the one that set the bike up when brand new so I have a call into him now to catch up on old times and talk about his former machine.

She's fitted with brand new PR2's, Heli's, FZ mirrors, the BIG Rifle windscreen, HyperPro fully adjustable shock, Hyperlites, LSL frame sliders, and a Corbin w/backrest. The unused saddle liners, an always used, garaged FJR cover, and a factory service manual. This all ought to get me off to a pretty good start, I think. Unexpectedly, when I went to have a look at it yesterday, he insisted that I take it for a spin (I showed up full ATGATT as usual). I refused the offer since I was not prepared to hand him cash. After 2 hours of us BS'ing and his persistance, we finally exchanged bikes and went on a ride together. I knew I was gonna like it but Holy Moly, it's really SWEET! We did about 10 miles of 101 Fwy in a nasty crosswind, and about 10 on a mixed straight and twisty county 2 lane and I'm very impressed. By the end of our meeting, I had decided already that THIS was the machine for me. Immaculately cared for and spotless through out. She's out of the TPS recall. I'm going a little above my projected budget but I'm totally happy in doing so considering this bike's condition and the way I take care of my own ****. All 3 of us owners are on the identical track. we talked turkey yesterday before I left for home and we parted with things to think about. I proceeded to obsess on the bike all damned day, yesterday as I knew it was the one. He called me this morning to confirm and we finalized our arrangement. It was meant to be! I'm hoping to have her in my stable by the weeks end. :yahoo:

Very nice find and low miles too boot, congrats on the (almost) purchase!

Edit: BTW, the front tire looks to be a Pilot Power instead of a PR2. Great grip, but will have a shorter life. Enjoy!

First off let me help you out....

You have the best year FeeJ, period!!!

The tires in the pix look like Michelin Pilot Power's, some of the best for sticking to the road IMHO but won't last long. Maybe the pic is old and now you have PR2's.

Anyway, nice sled! :yahoo:

Thanks. I'll yield to those with the knowledge on the PP vs PP2's. I've never run them and I'll admit, the PO said PP's and I just assumed PP2's since they're so popular on the FeeJ it would seem. I've been a Dunlop Roadsmart guy for the last 12k and absolutely love them having had fantastic performance on the mountain roads, slab, and even a StreetMaster's day on the Horsethief Mile at Willow Springs. I got 10k out of my last set and just put new ones on.

Anyone around here run the RoadSmart 2ct's on a FeeJ?

I don't think I'll mind burning up the PP's...that would just mean that I've been riding! :yahoo:

Well, since I'm a newbie to the FeeJ, I guess I can't really compare the 1st Gen's mirrors but I will say, this is the first motorcycle I've sat on that you can actually see behind with a great view. So.....they WORK!
