My 07 with 130k mi. Is beginning to sound Harleyish! The usual "swarm of bees" exhaust note has introduced a bumblebee into the swarm. It's coming out the end of the tailpipe, sounds like a hole in the muffler. My question: Is it possible to re-pack the muffler with whatever sound deadning stuff is in there and is this even an option? Anybody ever done this?

If it is the stock muffler, there is no packing (AFIK). Relies on baffles for sound reduction. More likely one of the muffler gaskets is leaking.

The "Bumblebee" sound is coming from both tailpipes equally. I just had the spark plugs replaced when I noticed how loud the exhaust note was. Could this be some sort of fuel management thing related to plugs or plug wires?

If not the gasket(s), you might be getting some buzzing from a broken catalytic converter or loose baffles in the muffler. Otherwise, I have no idea. Very unlikely related to ignition.

Nice pics. So you tossed them due to the trooper mod because you didn't like the mod, or because it caused some other problem with the mufflers?

I tossed them due to the extra noise produced by the trooper mod......previous owner did it.

Some folks like the extra noise but not me... I leave early each morning for work and quiet is good.

Found a set of clean GEN2 cans from another forum member and I've been happy ever since.
