Lowered Passenger peg heat shields -ideas?

I recently ordered the motor cycle Larry passenger peg lowering kit and ordered the heat shields too, but the heat shields are not available.

I know, based on google search, some have fitted boards from 08fjrame but do they still require heat shields ? there didn't seem to be a definitive answer

Has anybody messed with oem to see if they would offer any protection with some modification , I'm thinking could you bend , fabricate different positioning for the shield ?

I'm wondering if I should just return them or if the heat shields are not necessary

I have a set of shields on my '05. They are 6-8 inches long and clamp around the exhaust. I think they were from Drag Specialties. Drop in your favorite shop and have them look in the Turner Rocky catalog.

Thanks most of the heat shields I found were for the rider heels not the passenger, but will certainly look into that
