The link will bring you to our daily trip plans starting on Saturday May 12. We will grab a bunch of National Parks, Smoke Chasing BBQ joints, GLMC USA towns and hit a bunch of Tour of Honor sites. Hopefully we will be able to post from the road a summary for the day with some really neat pictures.

Not sure where your staying at the end of day six but you might want to at least stop by and see the Historic Windsor Hotel built in 1892 in downtown Americus, GA. They have Floyd's Pub there if you get thirsty as well. Just kind of a nice old building with history if your into that sort of thing.

Looks like a heck of a trip and you'll see a lot along the way thats for sure. Have fun and ride safe.

We end up in Americus to set up Jimmy Carter National Historic Site and grab a stamp the next day.

We either roll into town and look for a place to stay or make something via the web the night before. Have had some great success with Priceline. I checked out the link and it may be a bit pricey, but if there is nothing else available it is vaca

I generally try to work in the National Historic Landmarks into our trip which is a subset of the National Register of Historic Places.

Thanks for the tips

Willie

Sounds good.

You going to the POW museum in Andersonville?

Its only about 1-1/2hr south from me. I rode down on my cruiser with my wife last Spring. Talked to a 86yr old Vet from NH that was a tailgunner bomber in WWII that got shot down in Northern France and was captive by the Nazi's for 8 months. Pretty awesome to talk to a person from that generation.

Here was our ride to it if your interested in watching it:

Its one of the ones I want to hit. That would be the day we are hitting Ameicus. It could be a late one and could be closed by the time we hit it. We can always back track the next day if we have to. If you had to choose which one would yu choose, Andersonville or Carter.

Well its all a matter of opinion or personal preference...but I'd go with the P.O.W. museum in Andersonville for sure. Lot's to see, the inside museum is great, seeing the Civil War grounds where they held over 40,000 Yankee soldiers and all the other war monuments on the grounds is pretty cool to say the least.
