Hey Clark... I gotta tell ya, bro, that WWII picture? Though historically poignant, it doesn't belong here. Not one wit. If you're gonna post **** like that, make it cartoons or link to it with a 'NWS' or other kind of warning. Seeing countrymen or allies about to be murdered ain't sumpin' I wanna see, Verstehst du?

How quickly we forget. How about sending your comments to the family of the Englilsh flyer in the photo?

Just a thought. Not looking for a thread war.

Not looking at the photo doesn't mean that it didn't happen.

However, in the pursuit of peace, I will no longer post the photo. But I will never forget it either!

CK

PS My uncle died on the Batan death march. (The Batan prisoner parade) to some it seems.

PPS I changed the offending photo to more of what some think war should be!

And Gee, guys, let all pretend the 2 GI's that were captured and mulitated last week, are just lost on a camping trip. OK? That way we can all get some sleep. However, don't blame me if when you wake up

you will be hearing about another 9-11 and wondering what the mean old USA did to upset the Arabs again.

Yeah, I suppose using an image of someone that gave his life for our freedom in support of a jibe on an internet forum tends to cheapen the image that should be viewed with somberness and respect. Certainly, there are people on this board that either lost friends, or loved ones and certainly everyone in the USA owes the freedoms they have to their sacrafices. I have lost family to military conflict and I don't want a picture of my uncle in your posts to illustrate your points.

However, pictures like this are fine:

I ain't forgot nuttin', but you're using it in a way not befitting fallen soldiers and their efforts. You were using it to try and be funny. That's disrespectful and outta line. That's my gripe.

I had to look at that picture 3 times before I was sure it wasn't me. Jeepers. Now I'm wondering if I look goofy and just don't realize it. I had the same smile, the same haircut, the same shirt and shorts. I even arranged 'em the same way. The only thing that gave it away that it wasn't me was that I never had cool shoes.

Crap. People made fun of me when I was a kid? Welp, that answers one question. I frequently ask myself, why do people make fun of me? What's changed? I guess nothing has changed. I still look goofy when I pat myself on the back for making it across a cattle guard.

Holy crap, that's funny! We need a 'Caption This Photo' contest on that one!
Cattle guard fired for letting little boy in with the cows. Populace thinks this is the government's thinly veiled attempt to reduce the budget for cattle guarding in New Mexico thus increasing the risk of future rustling.

Your gripe is well received and well taken. Sorry, if it seems I used the photo in the wrong context. And it seems I did, even to me. again sorry.

CK :cray:

PS From now on your idea of a cartoon is going to be used. :butcher: :dwarf: :axesmiley: Your choice!

"Either start wining or be quite and happy and go away (for a day or two)"

This has been a wild thread. Your comment is taken in the spirit given. Think I'll lay back and lurk for awhile.

Hey Clark, in the new Superman movie, in case you haven't seen it, Superman has a kid with Lois Lane. Uh-oh!
If you believe everything you see in the movies, 6 guns have 150 rounds per load, The Cathloic church is living a lie. Jesus is a father too, men in blue and red outfits can fly, GI's hit on the battlefield with 20 rounds from a 50 cal. can run the 100 yard dash in under 10 sec. and Harleys never, ever leaked oil!

Believe me, if Lois had a kid, I'd be the first to know. AND the kid would have balls of Steel, or a **** like a Steel trap! But Lois and I are not married. We are from the 50's where everyone was good and we had apple pie every Saturday at the social.

The Superman shown today is only a digital image of what hollywood want him to be.

Since I never grow old, they asked me to be in the film. I almost said yes, until I saw the script. You wouldn't believe the language! It would have made the boys in the hood blush! :blushing: and believe me that's tougher than you think!

No boys, I'm the real thing. But when the last phone booth is gone, I'm out of here! Until then, you can still bring me your problems. Just remember, no Kryptonite locks!

Let me get this right. If your uncle is killed in action for his country, you don't want the anyone to see that photo. You would rather them see a photo of a cute little boy being happy?

Sorry, but I think that is what is wrong with the USA today. Too many want to pretend nothing bad is going on. They want to put their heads in the sand and think of cute little pollyanna children.

I'm afraid that is going to get us into a great deal of trouble. Many already think of the USA as a weak pollyannaish country that is too timid to really win.

Nothing personal to anyone on this site. Just my thoughts.

PS Great photo. Cute kid. Beautiful cattle guard. (Just like the one in my driveway!) mines much smaller.

Is my language so obtuse that nobody can understand a thing I say, or is the problem with the USA that we are becoming so weak that we cannot just own up to our own mistakes, but instead we obfuscate them with criticism that is out of context?

I said:

That doesn't mean I want to hide his picture. No. Let it shine through so people can understand what it costs to have our freedom. But you using a military man's execution to make a joke in a forum isn't the right setting for its use. I thought you already understood this concept when you said

If you want to do a tribute to our fallen and show various pictures that show us the hard truth, I'll stand behind you while others cry and whine. If you wanna make a joke out of it, well, I guess that's a freedom that I served 8.5 years and went to war to protect but don't expect support from me. If that makes me the problem with USA...so be it.

The cute kid and cattle guard was an attempt at comic relief.

Ding, ding, ding! Winner, winner, chicken dinner! Give that man a Cee-gar! It's what I call, 'the pussification of America'. I can write a book. PM me if you want to know more.

Wasn't that my point? I like your wording "pussification of America" Unfortunately, it's right on.

I agree. Enough said. Let's get back to whining about the FJR a little more.

I'll start. Waaaaaa, I can't find a used 06 with heils, a top box and a Corbin. for a good price.

See how easy it is? Lots of wining and no disrespecting the bike at all.
