Mc Cruise install today on a AE model..

Last Sept I put a Audiovox cruise on a AE and afterwords it would not let the clutch engage. After 20 or more hours for trying the unit was remove and David went home with out a cruise.. Well today I put a $600. Mc Cruise on the same AE and it is working great so far... David from Wisconson came down this morning for another try at cruise control. It took me about 4 hours to install this unit. Craftmanship of this cruise is great, but at a price.... It located the servo under the right side bodywork, the brains of the unit went in the tail. It was a plug and play setup. Not a single wire had to be stripped. A custom wire harness was order and a few inches was added for the set back triple clamp. This may be the fix for you 06-07 owners with cruise problems. I will be happy to install these for anyone that want this type of cruise control. Heres a few pic's of the install... Smitty

Smitty: Was the unit able to accelerate with the push of a button? I was not able to get this feature to ever really work on the Audiovox. Not a big deal because I found I never really used it. Nice looking unit by the way.

Smitty installed my cruise (thanks Smitty) and my resume / accelerate works just fine. They are indeed a gentle, and holding the accelerate button will increase my speed, albeit slowly, which is just fine.

I just installed the McCruise on my '06. Very nice install and made much easier by the custom wiring kit. Plug and Play. As to function. Excellent! My only complaint is I would like the Accelerate/decelerate function to work "quicker". It does work and works quickly enough for "touring" mode. However in commute mode it is too slow. I just use the set button and the right hand (throttle) to get to the speed I want. It is very precise when "setting" your speed and holds that speed very accurately!.

Love the cruise!!!!!!

I paid just over $600, $609 I believe. I installed it myself. With the included instructions should be "do-able" by almost anyone. If I can do it anyone can.

I also noticed the acceleration/deceleration function is gradual. I commented earlier on that. However, what I find is that each "quick push" of the accel/decel button results in about .7-1.0 mph increase/decrease. So, if you want to go 5 mph faster just quickly push the acceleration button 6 or 7 times. Makes fine tuning easy.

While it would have been possible for me to have done it, the four hours that he took on his first install would probably have been more like 10-12 for me. Anyway, the total purchase price, including shipping was $677.11. The time Smitty saved me on the install combined with giving me an excuse for riding 840 miles plus the expected and experienced reliability of the MC unit gave me a good ROI, from my perspective.

I am very pleased with the operation of the unit. The comments about a "gentle" resume do not apply to my unit. It will resume in a hurry and you need to be paying attention when you hit the button if you are 15mph or more under the set speed. Everything works as it should...wish it had a side control button for disabling when you need to shut down in a hurry without hitting your brakes but I am sure with a little more practice, it will be easier to find the off button without looking.

Not sure if there is a correlation but my milage going back was about 10% better than the trip down. Not enough information to base a conclusion on yet.

I think my comment about the "resume" function was misinterpreted. I'm talking about the accelerate/decelerate function. Using the "accelerate/decelerate" buttons to speed up or slow down takes quite a while. Resuming one's speed after setting it is very quick (Say as in after applying the brakes, then hitting the "resume" button to resume your speed. etc.). Depending on how "sensitive" one has it set-up , one must be ready and braced in order not to be "tossed off".

I have been using it while commuting for the last 2 weeks. I use the cruise constantly. When I want to drop the cruise I just tap the front brake lever lightly. It has become automatic.

Being totally frustrated with my Audiovox CC, I'm very interested in the MC Cruise unit. I've gone on MC Cruise's website and scanned the info for the FJR specific unit. The only thing that bothers me about the setup is the speed sensor. The way they show it being connected to the swing arm just looks kind of half-assed, especially when you consider how well thought out the rest of the kit is.

For those of you who have installed the MC Cruise, do you see any way to better integrate the speed sensor so that it isn't so prominent? Any pics you could post would be greatly appreciated.

Just out of curiosity, I have a '07 AE... Do you have a radio/CB or similar also installed..

If so, is it on the left side??

I'm looking at a J&M radio/CB, but I'm not sure it will fit on the left side if I have the MC cruise on the right side..
