Trying to help out my youngest son & his wife, who are researching as we speak but would appreciate any first hand knowledge.

If any of my forum buds out there can give an opinion on McMinnville, Oregon (Hwy 18 -- N/W of Salem) as a place to live, I'd really appreciate it. Opinions good or bad, I'll take 'em :)

Thanks all.

Hey,

Nice town, Not too big to spoil the charm. Fairly close to the beach. If they need to work in Portland or out that way, the traffic will suck as there is no good way to get out to Mac without going thru Tigard and Newberg. If they work in Salem the traffic is much less and good back roads. By the way Howard Hughes old Spruce Goose is in a museum in Mac along with other great planes.

Bill

Oregon is kind of an extension of california....bring a red flag with ya. lol

Would that be a "good" or "bad" opinion then?

Thanks 650cents. He'll be working in McMinn so there won't be that problem.

That means alot, for getting thru Newburg and North can be a hairpull. McMinn is out, but yet not too far out for either Salem or Portland. <_<

I'd live in Mac in a second if it worked out for my wife. I could work out of there easily with what I do, but she works in downtown Portland. Too bad. I'd encourage them to go there. It's a great location if they aren't commuting.

McMinnville is a great town and you should be all over it. If you are not commuting to Portland, there is no downside. Let me know if you need a real estate resource for the area. You can visit a couple of websites for listing search access, etc.

I love the King. Still have him on file, but I wanted to give the Superman kid a run for awhile...
