My family will be going up to the Wisconsin Dells next weekend. I'm thinking about taking off Friday afternoon and meeting up with them on Saturday afternoon.

My thoughts:

Ride from Canton, IL to La Crosse, WI on Friday afternoon and spend the night eating cheese and drinking beer. Saturday morning I'll meander from La Crosse to the Dells (via route 33?). Depending on the family's plans, I may be able to spend all day Sunday or Monday on the FJR. Tuesday morning/afternoon I can take off from the Dells and make my way back home (more than happy to take a scenic route if anyone has suggestions).

I've been up to Galena, IL a few times and flirted with the WI border but I've never had the joy of riding the roads of our neighbor to the North.

Thanks in advance for the help/tips!

Edit: Doh, meant to post this to the Midwest ride planning board. Too many Chrome tabs, not enough paying attention.

As a fellow flatlander, the roads between LaCrosse and Madison are some of my favorite playground.

Hit as many alphabet roads as you can, and follow the "Rustic Road" signs, you won't be disappointed.

Try US 61 to US 52 on the Iowa side to Lacrosse, nice ride along the river. Stop at Poopies in Savannah for lunch and watch the show.

WI 33, you picked a winner there.

Homeward bound WI 78. Which becomes IL 78 will take you to Canton. I like 78 almost as much as 33.

Any county road south of I90, N of IL and east of the Mississippi is awesome. Some of my favorites are B east from Ferryville and C East from Ferryville, you can do them in a loop and wind up back on 27 heading north to La crosse. The road through Wildcat Mountain state park is awesome also.

Check out the CFO threads from past years...they usually have some routes posted up. Pick a good road or two from those...so many to choose from!

EDIT: BTW, since you posted up in the RR section...you are now OBLIGATED to post up a RR with pictures!
