Many confuse Memorial Day with Veteran's Day.

Simple differentiation:

On Veteran's Day we honor all of those that gave some,

On Memorial Day we honor those that gave all!

RIP my Brother's and Sister's!

They gave all of their tomorrows so that I could have today. I am sincerely and humbly grateful for the sacrifice of those who gave everything they had.

Yep, well said John. I kinda of went off on a coworker when he shook my hand and thanked me for my service, etc. And when I asked wtf he said to the effect, "it's Memorial Day and I remember you were in the Navy and I wanted to thank you." I had 'a moment' and loudly proclaimed the difference between Memorial and Veteran Days and that I'm not dead and, "don't you dare trivialize the lives this country has lost on battlefields and in the oceans by shaking my hand on this day. Come back and see me in November!"

As the weekend was approaching I sat watching some pro sports game on TV (Pens game maybe?) and you could clearly hear the PA announcer saying, "As this Memorial Day approaches, we remember all those who served and are still serving . . . ." or something to that effect. I remember wondering if I should think that that guy was just an unprepared ******* or if our holidays have become too common-place and lost their meaning. Then on Saturday I spent the day at an air-show where the French Breitling team, the Canadian Snowbirds and the Blue Angles were amongst the performers. The announcer there definitely got it right.
