I'd like to share something unique I found while looking for something else. It's a four part recording from the conning tower of the submarine USS Sealion, made 21 Nov 1944, which consists of the spotting, setup, and attack of a convoy of Japanese ships including at least 2 battleships, one of which was Kongo. It's rough, but real-no Aldo Ray doing the talking here. Enjoy, and honor those who have gone before us.

Thanks 'radman'.

I was fortunate enough to have served on a WWII diesel submarine, the USS Threadfin SS410. My battle stations assignment was in the conning tower -- so, the recordings hold special value for me. btdt, FTG-3 (at the time) I did that kind-of-stuff.... The fire control computer was a real 'piece-o-work' -- being an old analog device working with synchro-servo mechanisms (you would've appreciated it, I'm sure?).

Thanks again....good memories :)

Cool. I actually might be more familiar with it than you think-though not in the same way. I enjoy the hell out of Silent Hunter IV, and have sunk the Kongo on a number of occasions, though without the pigboat smells and real sweat that no doubt was being dumped by the gallon that day.
