Mesa Grande, East & South Grades of Palomar Mountain, Sunrise Highway.

I had a really bad stomach ache last night and couldn’t sleep at all so I called in to work and used a sick day. When I finally woke up I felt somewhat better, so I decided to make the most of what was left of my day off. Great day of riding with very little traffic, I was pretty much riding solo most of the time.

My original plan was to take a short ride up to Ramona and get some breakfast at the Denny’s. But after eating and having some coffee I was up for some more riding. So I headed for one of my favorites to Mesa Grande.

From there I went past Lake Henshaw and up the East Grade of Palomar Mountain to Mother’s and not much was happening there so I headed down the South Grade to the Pala Casino for some Gas and drink. Palomar is so much nicer during the week, just to many bikes and cages up there on the weekends.

After filling up the tank I headed back past Lake Henshaw, through Julian and then I took Sunrise Highway through Laguna Mountain back home. Sunrise Highway was one that I haven’t done before on the FJR and it was wide open today. There was one incident of some idiot driving over the double yellow lines in a one ton white van talking on the cell phone while I’m leaned over in turn heading straight for him. I had to straighten up and ended up riding the shoulder to avoid the dumb ass, but it worked out.

I put 226 miles on the bike today and never even left San Diego County.
