I ran my 08 on pr3s, several sets worth and was exceedingly content. Now my 2013 has its first set of pr3s, (which feel better to me than the 023 originals) because my source had no pr4gts in stock. Supposedly the pr4gts are for heavier or loaded down bikes ( I ride single up, lightly loaded) and the regular pr4s are for bikes around 550lbs or less. The pr3s (to my knowledge) never had a gt, why not? Those of you folks that have ridden on pr3s, and now ride on pr4gts, could you share with me your perceptions of the differences please. Anyone riding on just regular pr4s?

I just spooned on a set of PR4GT's.

The stiffer sidewalls are definitely noticable. Harsher ride.

I'm wondering where you got the 550lbs or less figure...not sure I've seen that before. I'm a small-ish guy that rides primarily solo, so I've always gone with the regular non-b spec/gt tires and get double digit (thousand) mileage out of my rears. Currently running the PR4s and expect the same.

Thank you gents, these are the responses I was looking for. The 550 lbs was mentioned in an article I read a ways back, stated pr4s were for ninjas, and other sport touring bikes while the gt version was for heavier bikes like the FJR, Concours, Triumph Trophy SE, and the 1600 BMWs, bikes weighing over 550lbs, and hauling more weight. The local sheriffs bike units run GTs on Honda ST 1300 police bikes with all the added gear and really like them. I do not want a harsh ride and always had regular pr3s on my o8. Sooooo when I planned on new pilot PR4s for my 2013, and after reading aforementioned weight article I was a little confused. GTs were not available, so I went with a set of PR3s and am very happy with my decision, will most likely stick to PR3s (non-B spec) as long as they are available.

Bike works just fine and the tire handles it fine with the regular PR3. Maybe if I did extensive touring with a passenger I would opt for the GT spec. Either way the regular tire works fine then too, so....
