Michelin Road Pitots 2’s rock. :)

After putting 5,750 miles on my stock tires, I just had a set of Road Pilots 2s’ put on my 07 FJR today. I took the bike on the Highway and took off at 85 mph for several miles and the bike felt steadier than it did with the stock tires. And at 105 it still felt great.

The bike alway had a little high speed shimmy that made me uncomfortable. It was not really much but it was enough to make me nervous with highway speeds. Given this was my first bike (yes I know what every one has to say about that) I did not know if a bit unsteadiness in the steering at high speed is normal or not. I assumed it was.

I talked to the service writer about setting his balancer for dynamic balancing. I did not get a chance to check the weights to see what he did, but It’s working great now.

My 07 FJR feels like a new bike with these tires. :yahoo:

Easy,

You are not shimming now with thePR2's are you? Mine are really solid and have no shimmy and give a great deal of confidence.

If you still have a shimmy, recheck the balance. Most shops machines only are good to 80mph and that is if they are done right or at all.

Enjoy these tires and your new ride!

 +1 that. Sounds like a balance issue.

My new PR2’s are great. It was the original tires that had a little high speed shimmy that was disconcerting to me. The bike feels much better to me with these tires. :thumbsupsmiley:

The PR2’s also don’t have that little heavy feeling in the center when starting a lean to the left an right. I guess that feeling may have developed over time as my first tires flatted a little in the center with wear. But I’m sure the new PR2’s have a slightly different crown or shape that changes the handling over my stock tires. Now it rolls left and right with ease.

I almost like it enough to take it up to Star Motorcycle School on the New Hampshire International Motor Speedway track in Louden NH this year. But I will be the slower one in the group. lol.

We were up there last year with the FJR and my Son’s Ducati Monster 695. It was my son’s fourth riding course he took last year and would have been my fourth also, but I was not confident enough with my big FJR to run it on the track at those speeds. I need more time out with the new tires this spring before I sign up, but I might just do it. B)

Star Motorcycle School is and awesome course to take. I sat in on all of my son’s time in the class room and was very impressed. It was a great way to top off Lee Parks total control course. Lee Park's course prepped us well for the Track day course.
