Million Dollar Highway - "The loop" in Colorado

So, there are pretty rides, and this is one of them.

The trip begins in Durango CO and heads north on Hwy 550 towards Silverton. After a little coffee to warm up, we headed north again and passed through the section known as "Million Dollar Highway" until we reached Ouray.

A little lunch and on we went ... Our timing was immaculate, since it started to rain and sleet just minutes after we left town ... from that point on to Ridgeway and Telluride the weather was cold and we did get snowed on for a few miles.

From Telluride, we headed south towards Dolores - where the sun was shining and the tunes were kickin'

Hey! I was up there this last week as well, a little hot but the roads were excellent riding. I met up with Spud from Idaho just out of Durango Saturday morning, he was headed north on 505 and us, south after riding out of Ouray for a few of days, then to Pagosa Springs and Chama for lunch. Get this. I saw 12 FJRs in the three days riding around Ouray and Teluride, and just 1 connie. Whats that tell you. We will be headed up again soon.

Yeah, me too. I know the guy was going downhill, but geesh..... a bicycle?

Thanks for posting...that's a great scenic road.

Bicycle passing the motobikers was funny though...have to admit.

And the guy on the bicycle was NUTS! I remember the speedo reading 50+ mph
