What is the minimum tread depth for an Avon Storm ST front? There are no wear bars. Mine has 8K miles on it and 2mm of tread on the center portion, which is the thinnest portion. My new Avon Storm ST front, which is waiting to go on, has 3.6mm of tread on the unused rubber. I replaced the Avon Storm ST rear at 5,321 miles and was hoping to get 1.5 rears to 1 front. What do you think? Seems like it has some more miles left on it? BTW, I did a search on the forum and Internet. Bridgestone recommends replacing their motorcycle tires at 2mm of tread left for what it is worth (did not specify front or rear). Has anyone else worn out a Avon Storm St front yet? Some of you LD guys must have faced this delima already?

I've run Avon's in the past, an excellent wet weather tire, and am now running Pirelli Stradas. I think 2mm may be *okay* in the dry, though handling is not so good. I would be worried with any less tread depth than that in the wet... you need to consider having enough to channel away the water... IMHO.

When the belts show....or it vibrates so bad from cupping it annoys you enough to buy a new one.

As for state requirements....that varies and you should check your state laws.
